Desk Flyer
Good evening everyone, so glad the Matchbox group build is finally upon us! So sorry my other build isn't ready yet. I'll be back to begin with this one in a week or two...

Rabbit Leader
No need to apologise @Desk Flyer, we are all busy little modellers and this build goes for months and months. We look forward to seeing your Fury when you eventually get to it. Cheers, welcome aboard and best of luck.. Dave
SleeperService
After your comment on my thread I'll just say that my KV-85 fight to the death is coming to a successful close so I'll be starting mine in a few days too. @Marklo is just showing off now he's already applying paint 😮 1

Marklo
Now I’m getting confused with all the fury threads, sigh And I’m still humming Yngwie J Malmstien ( my favourite shredder ) to myself.
Desk Flyer
So while I'm waiting for the glue to dry on my Airfix Hormone, I thought I could post a few pictures here and give a rough outline of what I hope to achieve. So this is what I'll be trying to build and hopefully will look something like this: I'll be going for the USN colour scheme shown here using the decals that came with the kit: The various greens are for trying to guess/colour match the green in the decals for painting the wing tips etc. This is what came with the box: I still haven't decided if I'm going to scribe the panel lines (some, all or none at all) but the raised lines will definitely go. The pilot is unusable but I couldn't care less. It will be standing on its landing gear but I'll only be using hard points #3 and #4, the rest will be covered. I'm thinking I'd like to have one wing folded and the other one extended but that will depend on the wing fold rib detail (none provided with the kit). Mandatory ID shot. The kit is not older than me although back then I only knew the toy car range brand. Now this sprue will suffer the most loses/replacements but I will still be using the landing gear struts, IFR prove, hook etc. The air intake duct I haven't decided though to be honest. Poor as they may be by today's standards I absolutely love the newspaper style instructions! Now like @SleeperService I too got the mon-combatible resin cockpit set to try to fit it in A quick check shows it does fit in but I haven't tried squeezing it in *with* the air intake duct installed. If that fails I have the Airwaves set to fall back on together with the also non-compatible exterior detail set which I'm not sure if I'll be using at all... Finally I have a wheels & brakes set and 2 AIM-9Bs left over from another project I might be using (I don't usually hang stuff under my planes). The way I see it, the resin cockpit - intake duct combination is the tricky bit, the rescribing is the time consuming bit and the wing fold rib etc details is for the bonus points so to speak. I hope this proves to be an interesting project for you guys to watch. As always, many thanks for looking!
Rabbit Leader
Really nice photos of what’s included in that good condition Matchbox box. It’s all quite large, soft and fairly basic, however this will all be greatly improved by all those excellent looking AM items. Apologies for getting back to this thread quite late, but glad I’ve revisited to see your latest update. This will be a cracking build. Cheers.. SleeperService
I think the cockpit set was designed for the Matchbox kit as it's a very easy job to fit it. I've been looking at the intake trunking and have a cunning plan to improve it at little cost. I've just glued mine together ready for Mr Razor Saw tomorrow.
