My last entry for the GB is now done. Phew!

It's been a full on six months and I've averaged nearly a kit a week over the period. Time for a breather before the Revell/Monogram one kicks off.

Here's the final entry, Matchboxes PK-125 : Norseman IV/UC-64A built as the Invasion striped option, with nothing extra added, just the box contents and a bit of paint.

The paint scheme is pretty dull and the model almost fades away into shadow. I made a shop window type base for it to add a bit of colour and contrast.

My last Matchbox build for a while or maybe untill the next GB!

Puma Armoured car and diorama base. I added some rubble and some tank obstacles fashioned from match sticks and surgical steel wire to beef up the scene a bit. All brush painted woth Revell acrylics.

Thanks to the Hosts Pat & Dave for all their hard work keeping the mojo working.

Cheers Greg :)

1/48 Spitfire Mk. VIII finished and in the gallery. I really enjoyed this build and a sizeable kit to fly round the room.

Very well done all for getting over 200 finished builds in the gallery, all down to excellent hosting by @Rabbit Leader and @JOCKNEY of course!

DSC01218.jpg?w=1352&ssl=1

Here is my PK-312 Auto Union racing car in 1/32 (and just missing a couple of bits "out for maintenance" since the stunning victory in the last Gran Prix, namely the windscreen and the seat. They were long lost as this thing sat loose in my stash for a couple of decades at least.

DSC01220.jpg?w=1352&ssl=1

The Type D was the culmination of the Auto Union series of ABSOLUTE BEAST racing cars. In 1938 this thing put out 550 HP from its 3L V12 engine. It was - of course - without any electronic assists, traction or launch control, no power steering or anything like that, and on those bicycle wheel tyres. To put that in a bit of perspective, here is the HP of a few cars you might be familiar with.

Lamborghini Countach - 370-450 depending on version - also a V12

Current model Porsche 911 GT3 - 500 HP from a 6 cyl boxer

Recent years Ferrari Formula 1 car - about 1000 HP

DSC01217.jpg?w=1352&ssl=1

The car has a rear cover, but it doesn't fit on over those exhaust pipes. I left it off so you can see the engine (which isn't my best work - I lost my mojo on this build and only really finished it out of support for this epic GB.

DSC01211.jpg?w=1352&ssl=1

DSC01209.jpg?w=1352&ssl=1

Here is the build thread where you can read about the bad luck I had with superglue as a remedy to the poor fit of the main parts. There are a few extra photos there too. Thanks for looking!

And a huge shout out to the hosts and to all who participated. It surely ranks as one of the epic Group Builds of All Time! Not just for BM but for any site anywhere. What a wonderful legacy Matchbox has left - the kits of our childhood turn out to be as awesome now as they were to us then.

PK-405 B25 MkII 342 Squadron RAF (Free French)

Hello All

Second entry to the gallery. Finished as a Fee French aircraft and used as an opportunity to try out some finishing techniques that I have not used before.

Pre-shading; which I think went OK for this but will do slightly differently for any future builds. Chipping; which I am happy with. And @stevehnz's kleer/pledge decal application method which I can definitely see myself repeating in future.

Thank to @Rabbit Leader and @JOCKNEY for their cheerleading and @Markh-75 for his B-25 related encouragement and advice.

PK-112 Fairey Swordfish Mk.I - 824 Sqn Taranto Raid

Hello Folks

This was orginally going to be my only entry to this GB but I sort of got caught up and swept along with the excitement of it all so ended up with three entries. This is my last entry.

I bought the kit for this well before the kick off date for the this GB so had plenty of time to research and work out what I wanted to do. I plumped for an aircraft from the Taranto raid in the end as I think it was one of the Stringbag's finest hours.

My Haynes Swordfish Owners Worksup manual was a constant companion and I found plenty of ideas & inspiration from previous builds on Britmodeller by @Heather Kay and @TheBaron.

All finished in a combination of Vallejo, Humbrol or Hataka acrylics. Everything either from the Matchbox kit or scratched, other than the torpedo which was an Airfix example from the spares box.

Build here

After a load more faffing about, I made a push to get it done.

It's not been weathered, and I may well do later.

I'm calling this done for now. The white was specified in the painting instructions for countershading.

This has been a great build, Matchbox kits always went together well back in the day.  Many thanks to @Marklo who kindly sent me a home produced front canopy which was missing from my kit.
Cheers

PK 109 Junkers 188

I have depicted this beautiful German warbird in a peaceful role as used by the Aeronavale (French Navy) in the late 1940s. The overall colour is Humbrol Gloss 15 blue and French decals provided by an anonymous donor (THANK YOU). I had an Italeri canopy given to me a few years ago by my friend Trevor who died young, so after a bit of fuselage modification I used it, and it is in his memory that this model is dedicated

PK 403 Heinkel 111 modified to depict an aircraft fitted with Daimler Benz 601 engines

I just can't do something straight out of the box. For this reason I chose to modify the basic Matchbox kit by changing the engines to the Daimler Benz ones fitted experimentally. The annular radiators certainly make this aircraft look quite different from the rest. I had a lot of fun fiddling with it
