PK 11 Hawker Hurricane IIc 3 Squadron RAF Warmwell 1941.

A great wee kit that was a joy to build. Brush painted straight out of the box.

Cheers Greg

Another over the finish line, my Wellington is done.

A gift from one of the guys in my local Model Club, thanks Andy, rebuilt from the ground up by me.

An easy build, the only straying from box stock was a bit of cockpit detailing and replacing the side glazing. I made a bit of a meal of that, but I got there in the end.

Paintwork is rattle can black, Tamiya rubber black and Revell Aquacolour Dark Earth and Dark Green. Those two are my go to colours for RAF finishes of the period. Possibly a bit rich, but I keep coming back to them.

And glamour shots here...

And to finish, a bit of a posed shot, taken outside about four this afternoon.

The plane is sat on a board, facing Mildenhall. The sky looked great, the sun was bright and high above and threw some pleasing shadows about. Here's the result.

I cropped the picture, removed the colour and added a bit of noise to give it an old feel. I love Photoshop.

This is a bit of an odd one, the old Frog He-219 from about 1966 which Revell decided to reissue as "Matchbox" for some reason, perhaps because they already did a version of their own. It is pretty basic with a number of errors, most of which I have tried to correct. The most noticeable is the cockpit canopy which should in fact have a windscreen the base of which angled downwards towards the nose. The spare one I have in a Falcon set is meant for a Dragon kit and would have required some work to make it fit, and by the time I noticed it was too far into the build, so I have just tried to hide the problem with the paint. I have added a cockpit interior and various aerials, and "improved" the RDF equipment by changing the kit part for a clear one with a dec put on the inside to give the impression of the Peilgerät 6 system. The biggest problem was finding somewhere to fit in 40g of ballast but I managed in the end - just! Here is a link to the build.

This is apparently supposed to be an A-2 of I/NJG.I found at the end of the war at Sylt, an island off the north German coast.

My Phantom build joins the Gallery, the twelfth completion so far.

It all fell into place once I abandoned thoughts of upgrading the airframe with a few aftermarket accessories. You think I would have learned by now.

Here it is, complete with a shop display base for it to sit on...

And with a bit of green baize underneath the two...

This build shows KMS Z-38 in her post-WW2 guise when she was in service with the Royal Navy as a trials ship and renamed as HMS Nonsuch. You can read about this build here

Curtiss Helldiver MkI JW124 of 1820 NAS based at RNAS Burscough (HMS Ringtail) in 1944. Built OOB in Temperate Sea Scheme and transfers from an Xtradecals 'Yanks with Roundels' sheet. Wing fold joint not brilliant but otherwise looks good.
