Rémi
Hi all For the new year and the finish of a model, it's time to start a new kit This time I choosed to exit from my stach the Hawker Tempest MkII of Special Hobby at 1/48th scale Special Hobby realised a kit with the Eduard collaboration. The first box come from Special Hobby with the add of wheels and the engine in resin parts. Eduard realised two boxs a little futher later but with no add resin parts The Special Hobby box propose different schemes. Some for English plane, one for a Indian plane in aluminium color and one for a Pakistani plane in brown scheme I choosed the Pakistani color scheme
Rémi
The build was started At the first I start with the cockpit Like his cousin the Tempest MkV, the cockpit is very well detailled but his quality his also his default. The tubular structure is complex to assemble The seat is provided with the photoetched seatbelt I simplified the assembly by glueing the seatbelt behind the seat For the cockpit floor, we are in the spirit of a week end edition without photoetche But it is more simple to assemble The panel instrument need only a good paint I cut the decals and I put a Klir drop in each instrument Now I can paint the tubular section The fuselage is simple to paint. Nothing to say for this section Now it's time to assemble all little people I glue the floor with the seat block And after, you can glue the two tubular structure You can add the bar that supports the panel instrument and a side instrument block. This is certainly the most critical step because it is difficult to pass this block between the stick and the tubular structure of the panel instrument Now you can add the panel instrument

Valleyforge
Very impressive. Thats some detail with that kit. Great work up to now. Good luck with the build.
72modeler
Wow- if the rest of the model looks as good as the cockpit, Remi, you've got a stunner in the making! Not my scale, but I love the Tempest II! Mike
Rémi
The following steps Before to close the fuselage, I added some space for the exhaust pipes to avoid the lose of the exhaust in the fuselage when the fuselage is close Another thing for the exhaust, they are not drilled. It is not difficult to drill they The result provide a good view and I think the need of resine exhaust pipe is not necessary Now we can close the fuselage The fit is perfect between the cockpit and the fuselage like the Tempest MkV Now I can attack the wheels bay The wheels bay is the same that the MkV and very well detailled It need only a little paint Next step : the wings Edited January 16, 2022 by Rémi
Biggles87
Very nice. I have the 1/32 version which has a little more detail in the cockpit but is otherwise very similar. I like the shading in the wheel wells. John
Rémi
The following No major problem for closing the fuselage For the wings no problem too excep the machine gun cover The piece is too small in thikness and too big in width But except these point the use of the putty is minimal I painted the engine but this piece is not visible once it is in the fuselage Now I can add the wings and the fins The fins need a little putty on his under surface
Rémi
The paint I used the paint in the instruction The extrado is in Gunze H71-H72 (Aqueous colors) The intrado is in Gunze C370 I spent the time need to dry the paint in the make of nationality masks.
Rémi
I painted the nationality marks For the "pakistan green" I didn't have the green directly and I would make a mix. But this time, instead of to try severals mix, I use the help of a little book (sorry in french but I think it exist in many language) It is very usefull for the dummies like me You search the color that wish and the book give the basic colors for having it For the green I use the Gunze H015 (bright blue-5 parts) and Gunze H004 (Yellow - 7 parts)
Rémi
The advance of the week I setted the decals. They are no plenty decals. I needed only one evening to set they After, I passed a Tamiya panel line in structural line. I used the brown color. At firt I wished to use the black color but I think it is too strong and the contrast too heavy with the black color.

Rémi
The weathering I prefere a plane with only a little weathering On a large scale photo, you don't see it very well on the extrado But if you zoom on the model, it is better On the intrado, the weathering is clearly visible I painted the roquette But it is not an easy task because roquette and rail are in one piece
mark.au
Very nice so far. I think your level of weathering is just right for this aircraft, and very well done.
stevehnz
This is really super. I do like what you have done with this, I'm keen to try to replicate it albeit quite a bit smaller. (1/72) Steve.

georgeusa
I have the 1/32 version in my stash (that only seems to be growing exponentially without any building taking place). Your work is excellent and I can only hope I can do as well with the 1/32 version as you have done so far with this 1/48 version. I really like the Pakistan scheme you have chosen as it is different and quite colorful. Outstanding work.
85sqn
This is looking absolutely excellent. I just picked one of these up and plan to do it in the same scheme. I did a Pakistani Sea Fury last year and both fighters look so right in the desert scheme. Top Draw👍
