Tony Lynn
Good day all - Hope you all well and safe, just a couple of questions - where on the internet is a good place for references for the Fokker please? I have purchased the Quinta-Studio 3'd decal set for this Kit, and was wondering about weathering, do I have to cover the decals with a varnish before I begin weathering the cockpit? And if so what one would you recommend to use? properly going to use oils - Thank you in advance - Tony https://www.scalemates.com/kits/quinta-studio-qd32050-fokker-dr1-interior-3d-decals--1356817
G.R.Morrison
For an on-line (i.e., 'free') source: http://www.fokkerdr1.com Leaman's book, and the long OOP book by Imrie are the best text sources. Beware, the Squadron 'in Action' is laden with miscaptions and 'wrong' color profiles. As to weathering, they were operating from often-muddy airfields, so spray from the wheels would be seen beneath the lower wing. The rotary engine was messy. Voss' mechanic, Timm, remarked about scraping the oil/dirt from fuselage sides, aft of the firewall -- and that machine (103/17) had but a short lifespan, about one month. Good luck with your project, GRM

If you can find a copy of this book, it is excellent! I have just started my build of the MENG DR1, and this book is extremely helpful with a lot great build techniques. -Grant
