Prospero
I found some stuff about a radial bf109 I think it's interesting. I'd like to do one and would like to know if anyone is familiar with it to suggest what other planes I might steal the engine and cowl from to do it or at least have a suggestion. Thanks for your time and info. Plus I've had problems getting on my stupid pad and older phone died. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and new year . And I hope we beat this stupid covid soon it's getting ridiculous.
Marklo
Try Googling me109x Initially from a proposal to fit a P&W wasp (twin wasp) to prototype V2 but later built with a BMW 801 fitted to an me109F. it’s an interesting project but I have to admit the end result doesn’t look all that good. For the P&W version you’re looking at something like the vought Corsair, or any FW190 for the BMW. As far as I know this was actually built and flown. Oh and as far as I know there is at least one 1/72 kit available. Edited January 6, 2022 by Marklo

Are we talking the prototype https://www.flugrevue.de/klassiker/geheimnisvolle-versuche-messerschmitts-tests-der-bf-109-mit-sternmotoren/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Warthunder/comments/7v01c2/heres_an_odd_one_for_you_the_bf_109x/ or the real what-if? According to https://www.nevingtonwarmuseum.com/me-109-x.html "The engine chosen was the P&W "Twin Wasp" SC-G of 1200 hp" leading us to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pratt_%26_Whitney_R-1830_Twin_Wasp "It was selected as the power plant for both the four-engined Consolidated B-24 Liberator heavy bomber and the twin-engined Douglas DC-3 transport", so you could butcher a DC-3 or a B-24 or any of the other listed "Major applicationsConsolidated B-24 Liberator Douglas C-47 Skytrain Douglas DC-3 Grumman F4F Wildcat Consolidated PBY Catalina Douglas TBD Devastator Short Sunderland Vickers Wellington"
FloydWerner
There were two versions of a radial engined Bf-109. The Bf-109X and the Bf-109V21. Floyd
Jochen Barett
Excuse me for not reading the entire (and not translating) the Flugrevue text. The V21 (pictured) with the twin wasp, the 109 X with a BMW-801-A/0 using a 109 F-1 (Werknummer 5608) with shortened wings, wider main wheelbase and larger main wheels (no pictures known to the Flugrevue author so far - except pic #4 showing propeller, BMW cowling and the distinctive 109 wing with slats). tempestfan
There was an article on the X in Modell Magazin in the early 80, may have been by Heinz Mankau. Would have to dig to see if it has any information considered useful today - most was guesswork.
