psdavidson
This is my entry for the GB, HMS Ariadne Box, instructions and decal! Sprues, plus reference in the background And, to spice things up, some added jeopardy in the form of PE from Atlantic Models. not sure if the doors & hatches are appropriate for the ship, or even if my eyesight is up to it. We'll find out...... /P
JOCKNEY
Absolutely delighted to see another maritime model joining the GB, usually sadly underrepresented ! The PE for the kit is amazing, sorry to ask a daft question but how can you actually see it, let alone fit it ? Best of luck with this one. I have a magnifying headset, I just hope it's strong enough for 1/700th /p
Rabbit Leader
Really nice to see our only (and sadly) 1/700 Matchbox ship on here. I too am not sure why we seem to have a hole in this area as most other categories have been well represented. So a shout out to others WE NEED MORE SHIPS! Cheers, welcome aboard and best of luck.. CliffB
I'll be really interested to see how this one goes P. I've got HMS Kelly sitting my stash, which I'm hoping to build sometime as HMS Kimberley. Your Atlantic Models PE set for Ariadne looks like it could be largely applicable to Kimberley too. I think I'll take a punt! Cheers
bigbadbadge
Looks very interesting, I haven't built a ship model for years now, the PE looks good. Looking forward to watching this progress. Good luck with your build Chris

JOCKNEY
Hi @psdavidson Have you had a chance to make a start on your HMS Ariadne yet ? You blazed a trial with the first Ship model, it would be great to hear from you on any progress. Cheers Pat
psdavidson
Pat, thanks for checking. Ariadne is still in the 'planning stage', or in other words, waiting for me to finish some other stuff. Once I stop having senior moments like putting the wrong colour on Spits and get my KUTA finished, I'll pick this up. /P
psdavidson
In the immortal words of the bard Charlie Brown, "Oh, Good Grief" Here I am, not even off the starting blocks while some others are nearly halfway through building every Matchbox kit still in existence The bench is cleared from KUTA 2021, I can finally get this one laid down Since last I was here, even more tiny PE has been acquired to make up for the decals which are bugg not in the best condition Plastic and metal will be removed from runners shortly /P 2
CliffB
More PE . I'm resisting the temptation!
Rabbit Leader
Wow... there's more signal flags on that sheet to write "supercalafragalisticexpialadoshus" quite a number of times @psdavidson. Small steps mate, you'll get there in the end. Cheers.. Dave

As is some of the PE Although life may just be too short to wrangle some of it Folded and safely stored if I decide to use them It's a ship Thanks for looking /p

ArnoldAmbrose
Gidday, these were sleek looking ships and you're doing a very good job of her. I've done three Airfix kits of this and I have another that I intend to do as HMS Ariadne one day. One little point. Are the twin 4-inch guns still dry fitted? Those bumps at the back of the mounting I think are some sort of box, with the fuse setters mounted above them. They should be at 'floor' level rather than at the top as they've been molded. If you wish to slice them off and position them lower it might be easier while they're still loose. Other than that this looks a very good build. Regards, Jeff. I'll have a look at amending them. /P
psdavidson
Me and the PE have had a falling out. 😠 We're no longer friends and I've taken my boat away so it can't play with it any more. Seriously, though. I've been procannist procrassita putting off working on the kit and have reached the conclusion it's both the PE and the painting. I can live without the PE although it's not binned. I may acquire another Ariadne in the future and try again. The painting is more just a case of making a start.... So, I will continue to build the kit OOB (or nearly) Tomorrow 🤪 /P 2
psdavidson
A little progress. and the keen eyed amongst you will notice that there is actual PE These were bits I had already stuck before we fell out There's not much left on the sprues, so it should be ready for primer by the weekend More soon(ish) /P
psdavidson
🎵 We are painting, we are painting 🎵 I don't have much in the way of pictures.Dunno why I didn't take them Anyhoo, primer was applied last week, and then a coat of grey. That was left to cure, then I masked up and blasted some blues These are also now being left to cure. All being well, final assembly will start (and hopefully finish) next weekend. I may just make it ............... More soon(ish) /P
psdavidson
Time to put this to bed And assembled Not really happy with the paint job, or the assembly (there were problems sticking it together) but it will have to do. I'm calling it done. Another one for the Windowsill of Death ™️ Fancy pics to follow in the gallery shortly.
AdrianMF
Looking forward to the fancy pics! It looks like you’ve got some nice detailing on from the PE set. PE scares the bejasus out of me… Regards, Adrian
