825
Chris, I got one of these many years ago from, the long sadly closed, Bec Models and its languished in a cupboard ever since. Mainly as I have been too scared to start it. It's a great model of a British naval early jet icon and I am sure you'll do a brilliant job on it. I a man looking forward to seeing the sprue cutters out and some paint on. All the best with this build, I'll be following it.
Quiet Mike
This should be good! I never had this one as a nipper, but loved the box art. I made the Bf109 and the Dauntless back in the day and really enjoyed them. The 1/32 range were fun builds.
Enzo the Magnificent
I bought this kit when it was first released. A continuing motif throughout this GB has been about being able to buy Matchbox kits in the strangest of places. I bought this kit from a shop called Mothercare. It mostly sold mother and baby stuff but had a toy section which sold plastic kits presumably to keep older children occupied. And quiet, This kit was also notable because when I bought it, it was the first time I had ever issued a cheque in person. I sprayed it using a Badger 250 airbrush and Precision paints. These were bought by mail order from Hannants and were paid for using the first cheque I ever issued! 5 1
71chally
Great to see this build in your hands Chris, it's another of those kits that I remember building multiples of when I was a kid as there was one in the local museum, I'm pretty sure an actual hacksaw was used somewhere along the line! Looking forward to this.

I have kept looking at it and putting it back in the stash!!! I have cut most off ready and have been preparing the parts, I have only glued a couple of bits together at the mo as finishing some builds on my FAA thread. Good to have you along. The box art was really attractive and loved the Spitfire and the Dauntless box arts even my mates BF109 box art looked good with the technical drawing to the side too. I do love the way these Matchbox kits evoke so many memories. 18 hours ago, Enzo Matrix said: I bought this kit when it was first released. Thanks Enzo, Mothercare, wow I wasn't expecting that one, although the toy section for the older kids makes sense That's a great memory, your first cheque too. I will be brush painting this one as I can't use an airbrush in the house!!! 57 minutes ago, 71chally said: Great to see this build in your hands Chris, it's another of those kits that I remember building multiples of when I was a kid as there was one in the local museum, I'm pretty sure an actual hacksaw was used somewhere along the line! I don't know if it was particularly strange, but when I look back on where I bought kits, I do find the number of shops who's main business was selling cycles that also had good selections of models, was quite surprising. I can think of at least 5 in the local towns, whereas I can only remember 2 specialist model shops. Possibly stranger was a shop that sold domestic lighting downstairs and models upstairs! Keith Wow that is strange Keith, lightning downstairs and models upstairs. I never encountered anything like that, the models I got as a nipper was a beach goods store who sold models he had a good selection of Airfix, Matchbox , Heller and Esci, when I was old enough to ride to the nearest town there was a cracking toy shop in New Romnet called Hartops and he sold load of models and Model railways stuff, used to love going in there!!!
bigbadbadge
Hi all Not much but some progress, I have been finishing some other builds but in the meantime I have joined the floor and rear bulkhead and was applying the two shades of paint to the cushions to see what they looked like, only first coat, and noticed the base of each seat is not quite right The base pad is solid right across so I will need to try and sort that. I did whittle a bit out of the one on the left but I am going to have to use a dremel. I might be able to do during lunch break tomorrow otherwise might have to leave until Saturday as I would rather do this outside due to the dust and try and sort out the second layer and front belt . Why do I have to try and change everything Thanks for looking in Chris
zebra
Great to see this one. I got one of these for Xmas in 1983. I'd normally be unsure of the year but I can date this from an earthquake which Wikipedia tells me happened in July 1984 - I built the Sea Venom with the canopy open but not glued, it would sit up on its own but didn't take a lot to knock it down. I have a clear memory of the canopy closing during the earthquake! 5

bigbadbadge
That's a bit better, one seat almost modified and the other part way through, quite pleased with that. Sliced yonder the belts and used plasticard slid underneath the now liberated belts.just got to round off the edges a bit and can paint up and add the front belt. Thanks for looking in Chris
