F/A-18 Reference

Recommended Posts

All the pictures I'm posting are taken by masterful Ari Manninen, who's a semi-official Lapland Air Command photographer!

New Year is gone but here's one reminder of the fireworks!

Ok that wasn't much of a reference shot, let's try to improve on that!

A decent A2A load on this one - 10*AIM-120C and 2*AIM-9X.

What did Charlie Sheen say?

Almost "clean" aircraft, eh, just the centerline tank and some grime :giggle:

A pic I chose to post to show how those flaps hang compared to the backs of the pylons.

In case anyone needs a reference pic of the ID spotlight.

A link to my Flickr and some of the Hornets I've shot over the years. No close ups or walkaround type images, but hopefully of some use in terms of overall appearance, weathering etc

There's some static shots amongst my collection of Hornets here. Maybe of help with anyone cutting wings in order to drop flaps etc. I've got some more close up shots of one of the Canadian examples to add to the collection. Some of which I referred to when I did my Spanish Tiger Meet Hornet.

Album with some close up walkaround shots of a Canadian example here with some underside shots.

Besides vppelt's photo above, does anyone have some good images of what a "naked" legacy Hornet's fuselage weapon station looks like?  That is, without FLIR or whatever gadgets sometimes get stuck there.

This good, or too late? V-P

I'm sorry, what I really meant was the ones on the "edges" near the main gear- but that is a GREAT photo for other purposes!

Ari Manninen indeed takes magnificent pics of magnificent planes in magnificent environment! Would this be good and clear enough?

V-P...these are superb photos.  Many thanks.  This GB has really made me fall in love with this aircraft.

Thanks John, but I'm only sharing them. You know what? The same has happened to me! I want to build another Academy Legacy Hornet one day, and I have the 4F-dable Decals for Swiss and Spanish Hornets left over from this build.
