Re. the white box of mystery.

Not sure if they are/were a UK company but the Tiger Hobbies F-5A & F-5C kits perhaps?

Came in boxes like that , got a couple for which one also came without a label.

Nice kit but from memory their release was eclipsed by the Kinetic F-5 series , F-5A kit is still available for £10  -  https://www.tigerhobbies.co.uk/product/thk48001-tiger-hobbies-1-48-f5a-freedom-fighter-4-decal-options-sale-sale-sale/   -   and the F-5C for £5 more  -  https://www.tigerhobbies.co.uk/product/thk48002-northrop-f-5c-skoshi-tiger-1-48-scale/

A set of 1/48th scale T54E1 tracks from Quarter Kit for my IDF M1 build. And because QK have a minimum spend policy, a Hauler set of M4A3E8 etched fenders/track guards.

Oh, and a new jockey wheel for my caravan.

Nice haul, sad to see a shop going away though. The Turret is 1/72 correct ?

Thanks Corsair,

Yup, its a real shame to see yet another model shop closing down.

The turret certainly is 1/72. I've got the 1/35 6" secondary on the way, although parcelforce have been playing pass the parcel between 2 depots for over a week now, so I've no idea if it'll ever turn up...

A box from Hannants was delivered thus morning with a set of Aires F15 afterburner cans for my GB entry. Apparently Israeli 15s in the time period mine will be modelled in, still had the 'turkey feathers' exhaust that are not in my kit. I have to say, not cheap but very nice.

A box from HLJ with a AZmodels Bf109E-7/B Jabo ZG.1 kit, a Hasegawa Mitsibishi F-2A/B kit, both 1/72 & a 1/24 Tamiya & a Toyota Celica GT-Four 1993 Monte winner. Disapproving glares from her indoors, also from World of Books, Kenneth Poolman's, Allied Escort Carriers of WW2.

Not modelling related - but a significant purchase none-the-less!

For more years than I care to admit to, my other main past-time is PC-Gaming, playing everything from strategy games to FPS to RPG's - this has been exclusively on desktop systems that I have built myself over the years. My latest rig was built just over 2 years ago, literally just before the first main Covid lockdown and is a fairly beefy rig and allows me to play pretty much all games at max fidelity and resolution.

One massive drawback... When we go on holiday I need to keep myself busy and fairly well occupied but can't exactly lug a massive tower-system, duel monitors, surround sound system etc around in the car with us!!! I know going away is about getting away from it all, but... It's not a case of having a shot attention span or anything like that - I have a brain that needs constant stimulation, and constant feeding to keep it "nourished". Whether that be reading, or doing something etc. I find that I can get bored very easily on holiday  Still getting used to the fact that this part of me is autism related! I've always need to keep "busy" and now I know why that is!

To that end, I've been trying to save up for a mid range gaming laptop. One that will allow me to still play the games in my various digital libraries (Steam, Origin, Uplay etc) but would also allow me to play them at some sort of reasonable level of graphics with a decent spec. After lots of searching, checking reviews etc, managed to tie one down that was also on a special offer from one of my favourite retailers (been using this company for all my components for nearly 30 years!).

Basic gist - just as good as my desktop system, (slightly less storage) but in a portable package! Normally retails around the £1300(ish) mark, but reduced to under £1100 at the moment. More than I wanted to pay, but for such a decent gaming laptop, a pretty good price! (Being a typical geek, I'm already looking at how to upgrade the built in storage:like:!)

(I should add that I do have a cheap laptop already, good enough for basic stuff, got from wifes place of work when they updated their laptops... It's just not up to playing any games! But I will strip it of any spare parts before being got rid of though!)

Just checked my eBay watch list and came across an MPM 1/72 Blenheim V for twenty quid. I remember when i bought my last MPM Mk V from a Shuttleworth display around fifteen years ago for the same price and thinking I’d got a bargain. These things almost never come up for sale and when they do, are considerably more expensive.
It’s mine now.

A new solicitor for our house sale/purchase, as the one we were using has done precisely naff-all for the last two months. After  asking whether they could actually do the work, they have just admitted that they can’t. Their lack of professionalism is staggering.

It couldn’t come at a worse time.

The last time we bought a house (a while ago now!) our solicitor got struck off mid sale...!!

Good luck with the new one, the process is stressful enough without that sort of nonsense.

It certainly is! To say I’m on edge is putting it mildly.

I do hope they will refund any £’s he/she have taken ? It will be even worse if you must now go to court to get that back ?

We have only paid a couple of hundred pounds up front (for searches and document copying, etc). They have said they will pass on the copies and searches to the next solicitor and refund anything outstanding.
If they’d told us back when they realised they were overwhelmed, I wouldn’t have minded, but to drag it our for eight weeks with no responses to our calls and emails, is pretty shoddy. I’m not often surprised by ineptitude, as I see it every day (I mean, just watch the news!) but I’m flabbergasted.

Luckily we were able to get another solicitor quickly. It’s actually the one we used when we sold our last house. They remembered us and gave us a previous customer discount. It doesn’t hurt that my father in law used to work there.

Funnily enough, we have had more correspondence from the old solicitor today that we have had in the last three  months combined!
