No scale model this time folks, sorry, my stash is full to the brim like most of us here but still awaiting some new releases :)

Its another new Guitar, posted last time here my dilemma before about an EVH or a Tele, went for the EVH and love it, saved up my pennys again though and now have a very nice Fender Telecaster to add to my Guitar collection ... where does it end? :)

Its probably not the apex of Fender Telecasters, see them go for £3 grand or more, this one cost me just over £800, but for my budget, am in the Tele club now.

Still not plugged it in, but tuned it up and even without peeling off the pick up and elsewhere cellophane protection, can feel and hear that distinctive Tele sound already.

Colour was my choice from the start and years of wanting one, it had to be Butterscotch for me ... I'm chuffed to bits already with this guitar 👍

Lovely guitar - but over £800?

GAK and others have that model for £619.

Thanks mate, but its not the same model, its a different model, my one has different wood, especially in neck area, this is spec and link of mine.

I know they look similar :)

Roasted Player Telecaster Butterscotch Blonde Roasted Maple Neck/Fingerboard with Custom Shop Pickups and link I bought from is ... https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/200824361412025--fender-guitarguitar-exclusive-roasted-player-telecaster-butter

Thanks again, but here is an explanation of the extras on my Tele, is it worth the extra cost over a more basic one? who knows, time will tell, but am happy with this purchase, thanks.

A Heller Ferrari 512S kit, still in original shrink wrap, least it was till soon after it arrived today. There is a cautionary tale to go with it, after seeing it listed for NZ$50.00 on an auction house website. Ok I think, I'll bid up to $60.00, no, that is now the start bid, bugger. but ok, if successful, about $10-12 for postage, its all good & yes, I was successful, & bloody hell, there is a buyers premium of near 20% so $60 became $74.99 & then shipping, we don't use NZ Post sir, will be $22.50. Have another go I said, ok, we can get it down to $17.50, final cost for my Ferrari was $92.29. Thackery duck mate. Do I need an expensive conversion to turn it into a long tail like in the movie? Naahh, not really. :(

Steve.

Scottish Nationals 2022

Only definite want when I went down was a dark leather paint for some seat backs so picked up AK-Interactive AK11110 Leather Brown which has already been applied and did very nicely.

Other than that a few unlabelled tinlets of various grey and green Sovereign Hobbies Paints for 50p. each from their stand.

HobbyBoss 81759 1/48 Su-17UM-3 Fitter-G from Black Mike Models , had the 1/48 KP kit of the single-seater for a while , built both 1/72 Italeri single and twin in the past but really surprised at how long the twin-seat fuselage is in 1/48.

Kinetic K48096 1/48 F-104A/C Starfighter from Rif Raf Models , decided that I should try one of the family , bit different from the Esci kit I have had lying about in the loft for years and perhaps a more fitting canvas for the Caracal decals I bought for that last month.

Some new books from BookworldF-104G Starfighter – Visual Modellers Guide Wing Series Volume 1 , from AMMO by MIG Jimenez , published 2020 – detailed walkround of a Spanish AF F-104G with text in English/Spanish/Italian although no idea what the two full page images of a preserved Luftwaffe example with a Canadian CF-104 centreline VINTEN recce Pod have to do with it (captions offer no explanations for their presence).

Dassault Super Etendard – Airmark Modellers Guide 4 , by Andy Evans , released in the previous week or so by Phoenix Publications , wasn’t aware that it was quite so imminent and had not pre-ordered so a nice surprise.

And a second-hand one – Into The ‘70s With The Royal Air Force , by John W.R.Taylor , published 1971 by HMSO , paperback book as recruiting blurb , got one when I was looking into joining the RAF back then but long lost.

From the TombolaEsci 8036 1/72 British Tank Mk.II Matilda , box folded flat and faded but parts and decals still in sealed poly bag , touch of nostalgia is the label for the Argyle Model Dockyard which those of a certain age might recall in Glasgow and from my memories of visits in the early 1970s when it had relocated from within the Argyll Arcade to under the Hielanman's Umbrella was truly a place of wonder.

Aircraft Of World War 2 , by Bill Gunston , 1981 re-print for Marks & Spencers by Octopus Books of their 1980 original release , slight misnomer as although all of the aircraft covered served during World War 2 quite a few of the colour profiles cover post-war service , multi-view artwork of one aircraft showing wear and tear with more conventional pristine side profiles of other schemes and markings for each of those covered.

From Phoenix Publications

While I was not expecting the Super Etendard I had pre-ordered their – Grumman E-2 Hawkeye – Real To Replica Number 1 , by Andy Evans , released that week and was waiting for me on my return from Perth.

From Amazon

Flying Flatiron – The Gloster Javelin , by Alex Crawford , published 2021 by Mushroom Model Publications as Orange Series 1 , I do like the Javelin and had been wondering about buying this book then got a chance to look through a copy at Perth last weekend where the author was promoting his work , no direct sales at the show and was given contact details to buy online from him but the email address didn’t work for me , sorry Alex.

Via eBay

Special Hobby 48028 1/48 Fairey Barracuda Mk.II/III ‘Hi-Tech Version’ with plastic , etch and resin , been after one of these with the original rounded wing for a little while after buying the Mk.V with its squarer tipped version but as always too late to the party and quite literally have had to pay the price.

Anybody remember this? I used to take it out of the library almost every couple of weeks. I just bought a copy on eBay and it all came flooding back. 😀

My favourite page. I remember laying out the Airfix Blenheim just like this. A piece of hardboard for a cutting mat, a tube of Britfix and one of my dad's Swann Morton knives. Ah, the memories!

Some tins of paint. And a very disappointing set of paint brushes that seem to be disintegrating after 1 use !

Going off on a tangent -  £34 for a 1:72 Airfix Buccaneer ?  Are they taking the wee ?

I've had (too?) many Teles over the years and the one that has remained is a beaten-up 2003 Mexican Standard; it's not posh but it does what a Tele should do as well as any I've played, and better than some that cost a kidney's worth more.  A good Tele will see you covered for pretty much any job.  Enjoy yours, sir.

I’ve had to start travelling for work again, and I managed to sneak in a visit to Colpar Hobbies in Denver CO. In the second-hand section I found this:

270-BA25-B-4-F6-E-44-C6-AEC6-EC5-AF9-D5-

Under twenty quid so in my comfort zone. I asked if I could look inside the box before I bought it (unknown-to-me resin manufacturer) and I was amazed at the quality:

37773396-7-D98-46-C2-9067-4-B3-A4-D115-A

There isn’t a bubble or warp in sight and the surface detailing is subtle and immaculate on both resin and metal parts. Not my usual scale but I want to build it once my Shelf of Shame gets emptied a bit (and I do have the S6B and MC72 in 1/48 so there could be a mini GB)

My daughter has  a subscription and Joe and I are the named family members. Joe is a Star Wars fan and we both watched the Mandalorian. Huge fun, think Fistful of Dollars in space. End of season two has an interesting guest appearance. Looking forward to Obi Wan on Friday.

Noix Models, also active as Atelier Noix, were a small Japanese manufacturer that specialised in 1/48 racing seaplanes of the '20s and '30s. They were very highly regarded for the quality of their resin parts and their kits were accordingly expensive (think $80-90 for a typical Schneider Cup type in the mid to late '90s).

I'd say you got a great deal here, a good kit of a very unusual and interesting subject for a great price.

Ah, it's a roasted neck!

You omitted that in your original post.

Enjoy it!

Hobby Boss Yak 38U Forger B

Like the Hobby Boss Forgers and have one of each set aside along with the very extensive Bergemot decal sheet but considering the amount of aftermarket that has tended to follow kits of Russian aircraft over the years always wished that someone had come up with the fuselage plugs necessary for an accurate 'U' . . . . .  or did they and  I have missed them?
