Popular Post trickyrich
This build was part of the F-4 Phantom II STGB, which due to delays in acquiring the decals didn’t make the end in time. This build is part of my continuing VF-31 build, this using Tamiya’s awesome new F-4B. Enough has been said about this amazing model, For this build I needed to back-date the model, by fitting the plain fin top (I really don’t know why they just didn’t include this in the model), fitting earlier Ejection seats, fitting early style wing drop tanks, and removing some antenna. Replacement fin tops have been released by Flying Leathernecks, they are meant to be a drop in item, but they don’t, they are too short, and the rear profile is incorrect, I need to cut it in half and add a 3-4mm extension to get to fit correct. Hypersonic has recently new fin tips that are a perfect fit! Speaking of which I used their Ejection seats and Early Style wing drop tanks. They are beautifully mouldedl resin parts which I highly recommend for anyone doing an early version F-4B. To finish her off, the decals. A brand new release from Bullseye’s “Fleet Phantom” series for the F-4B’s, they are without doubt the best decals I have ever used! Super tough, super thin (they look painted on when dry), the decal film is nearly non-existent, and the stencilling is 100% legible (I know because I had to use a magnifying glass to read them!!). But there are a couple of things, they are frighteningly expensive to get here in Aust (over $90 USD inc postage!!!), and there is no numbering of the decals…… which is why I needed to read the stencilling to see where they went! But all in all a wonderful model to build and one I will definitely build again….. I have another set of these decals being baby-sat for me at the monet in the US! Thank you for looking I have added a link to the build, enjoy. 72modeler
After looking at the RFI and collection photos, I am at a loss for words! Mike If it means anything, coming from a total stranger, that is by far the best F-4B I have seen in any scale!

MRMRL
Mind blown 🤯. That is awesome. Makes me both want to build my f4 kit and chuck it in the bin for knowing how inferior it would be at the same time 😃
GRIM REAPER
What a coincidence! I'm building the exact same bird with the exact same decals! I just moved into the painting phase with mine, though. I'll be referring to your build when I get to the decalling stage. Again, beautiful work! Devo
Nice collection of Tomcatter aircraft. You need to a VF-31 F3H Demon to go with them now. It would nicely show who the daddy was of the Phantom!

Thanks, I have a Demon (the earlier F3H-2N) in the stash along side a F2H-2 Banshee, F2H-3 Banshee "Big Banjo", plus a F-4J with all the correct VF-31 decals, the only missing aircraft is a F9F Panther, thou I do have the decals for that one as well!
