DaveH
Afternoon Gents, hope you had a good 'n safe Christmas I know this is a bit of a longshot, but someone out there might know... I was based at Marham during the seventies, on 231 OCU. during the winter of 78 or 79, Buccaneers turned up to use one of our pans as an exercise dispersal. I know it was winter, I had to crawl through the snow, go under a barbed wire fence to try and 'attack' the 2 planes using the pan. what I'm after is info on which squadron this was likely to be.... I was a bit chilled to take much notice... I suspect they were tasked for tactical nuke missions, but again not sure... they brought there own snowdrops with them, which was a bit of a give away.. so if anyone can help, got Airfix S2-B kit for Christmas, can feel a diorama coming on..... cheers DaveH Edited December 27, 2021 by DaveH
Richard E
Hi Dave It might be worth asking the same question at www.fightercontrol.co.uk - they have an Old Serial Tie Up Area which could be a good starting point.

Phone Phixer
Before my time on them. But I can ask on the Buccaneer Facebook group.
Phone Phixer
So, the answers back, up until now. It looks to have been 208 sqn up from Honington. The answers were a bit vague as to the exact year, after all several years have passed. But it was around those years, and they remembered the snow. DaveH
Many thanks for that Phixer.... diorama definitely on, will have me sat against nosewheel, potting crew as they arrived to scramble.... but I was young then, many, many years ago.... and very, very cold.... cheers again, DaveH
