TimJ
One of the classic late 70's/ early 80's Porsche racing cars this kit was issued first in Martini livery and a few years later this version came out in Liqui Moly livery.. I can't remember seeing one of these built but hopefully the multi piece body will go together without too much trouble and the decals will be OK as replacements will be hard to find.. Rob G
I half built one of these in the early 80s, from memory it went together well - it didn't get finished because I managed to squash the roof somehow, and didn't have the skill to fix it. There's aftermarket decals available for this kit, so don't stress if the ancient Mbox decals are gone. Also, while it's definitely a Porker 935, it's a kind of a Frankenstein's monster 935 - still, with a bit of work, it can be made to look quite respectable. Here's one from a BM member who's managed to tame the beast; well worth a look at the thread IMO, it will be my guiding light when I get around to doing the untouched kit that I have. And RFI here: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235056194-porsche-935-matchbox-132/ I look forward to seeing what you can do with this!
JOCKNEY
This looks really nice, and looks like you could actually get away without painting it Good luck with this one. Cheers Pat
CliffB
That multi-piece body is certainly an uncommon sight these days. Hopefully all goes well Tim Cheers
Rabbit Leader
Now that Porsche does look good, a tad challenging however no doubt will be lots of fun. This build has the very real potential to get me all excited and try ever so hard to source one for my very own collection.. watch this space! Cheers, welcome aboard and best of luck.. Rob G
@TimJ any progress in this wee Porker? I'd like to see how you're getting on with it. (because I'm nosey...)
bigbadbadge
Excellent great to see a car with the engine in the right place, looks an interesting body to assemble, looking forward to this one. Chris

JOCKNEY
Hi Tim Just thought I'd drop in to see if you have made a start on this one. But appreciate you have your hands full with the Lancaster and AFVs at the moment. Cheers Pat
TimJ
With the brace of butcher birds nearly done it's time to drag the Porsche up from the depths of page 12. The first thing on the agenda was to strip the chrome. DSCF3181 by timothy jones, on Flickr Next I added the lower side body panels and applied some filler to the seams. DSCF3182 by timothy jones, on Flickr I added some strips of plastic card to the sides of the bonnet(?) to help line up the body sides. The engine cover has been assembled and filler applied to the seams. DSCF3183 by timothy jones, on Flickr The rear wing has been primed as I thought that if I paint that first I can find out if the decals are OK without having to wait until the rest of it is assembled.
johnlambert
Great to see some progress on this, my Martini 935 had the main part of the body assembled so I didn't have to deal with that. Have fun with the seams on the lower body parts. It took a lot of gluing on mine to get them to stay in place. I wonder whether Matchbox had a plan to do other racing 911 variants, which would be easier to tool with the multi-part body, or if it was just the easiest way to reproduce the complex body shape within the limits of the tooling?

I'd say that the multi part body was due to the limits of the tooling but the thought of possible different variants is an interesting one. There has been plenty of progress over the last couple of weeks. The body shell went together without too much trouble which was a relief as this was the main reason that I hadn't built it before. DSCF3184 by timothy jones, on Flickr The engine and rear suspension went together well and looked good after some detail painting. DSCF3186 by timothy jones, on Flickr DSCF3187 by timothy jones, on Flickr The chassis has been painted and the interior fitted. I used Revell Anthracite on the seat front and dash top to add a bit of contrast to the black of the rest of the interior. DSCF3188 by timothy jones, on Flickr Next it was time to add the front suspension and brakes. DSCF3189 by timothy jones, on Flickr The few pictures of Liqui Moly #66 that I've found show it with black wheels so they were painted and the tyres added after painting the Dunlop logos with a cocktail stick. DSCF3190 by timothy jones, on Flickr Finally for this update the rear wing has been painted and I'm pleased to say that the decal went on OK, although I did have to cut the stripes down the middle in order to get them to line up properly due to them being out of register. DSCF3185 by timothy jones, on Flickr More soon.
TimJ
The engine/suspension unit has been fitted to the chassis, along with the roll cage and wheels. DSCF3212 by timothy jones, on Flickr The body has been primed so the finishing line is in sight.
bigbadbadge
Looking great, a car with the engine in the right place. Wheel and tyres look great with the Dunlop logos picked out too. Great work and glad the decals were okay. Chris
TimJ
A few more weeks have slipped by but I've got the body painted and the decals have been applied. The stripes were out of register so those on the front needed some cutting to get them to line up properly. Those on the roof and engine cover were longer than necessary so I was able to just trim the ends of those to get them lined up. DSCF3228 by timothy jones, on Flickr DSCF3229 by timothy jones, on Flickr According to the reference pics I've found online and the box art the strip across the windscreen should be black with the Liqui Moly logo in white. The decal is white with clear areas for the logo so I painted the inside of the screen black to get a colour reversed strip. DSCF3227 by timothy jones, on Flickr Just a few more small parts to add now to get it over the line. 🙂

TimJ
My fifth finished build for this GB. I don't think I've seen the Liqui Moly version built before so it was nice to get this one done.
