Bert
Would the seat be painted the same interior color as the cockpit? The standard gray green?
The wooksta V2.0
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. If the latter, a reddish brown colour.

Depends what the seat is made of. A lot of Spitfire seats were a resin impregnated paper, and were a red-brown in colour. I'm not even sure that the later ones ever had metal seats? I'll @gingerbob here. What kit are you looking at? That might help with what the seat in the kit represents. HTH

I thought it may have been painter the cockpit colour instead.
Peter Roberts
Seat would be the dull red brown colour. Early metals seats seen in the first Spitfires were painted the cockpit green colour.
spitfire
This from Edgar Posted August 30, 2012 Plastic (not Bakelite, not ever, nohow) seats were introduced onto the production line 14-5-40; they were intended to be used earlier, but were delayed due to problems with the material cracking. Castle Bromwich were to be the recipients, but it's likely that the bombing of the Supermarine works caused a change of plan. It's doubtful that they were painted, at least in wartime, and their use extended beyond the end of the war, since there's an order demanding that they be rescued for future use; Hornets, Vampires and Meteors used plastic seats, as well, and I've found reference to a "comfort" seat, for bombers, but never found one. Edgar More info on colour here Cheers Dennis
