1/72 Lockheed XP-80 Conversion Done

Recommended Posts

Having just finished my conversion of an MPC  (nee Airfix) P-80, into the first-flight configuration XP-80 Shooting Star, here are the promised pictures of the completed build.  For those interested, the build thread is HERE

And for comparison's sake, vs the P-80B:

And just like that, she's done. I thought I missed a bunch of updates, but Mr. Ed was working in secret 🙂. Looks good, and it's an interesting comparison with the production P-80.

Cheers,

Wlad

Lovely job on this conversion! What’s next? I’m sure it will be something unique and interesting…

Pondering that very question right now, Bill!

Curse you Ed! That's another one on my bucket list that you have beaten me to. Still this time you have paved the way.

Keep up the good work

John

Well John, I hope you can use my errors to your advantage, and have a smoother time of it!

Ed- looks like you have captured the essence of Lulu Belle very nicely- all that cutting and hacking and filling have paid off. Very nice one!

Well, you know how it is Mike  --  sometimes, you just get that burr under your saddle...

But thanks!

Thanks Wlad,  before I started her, I didn't realize how different the XP-80 was from her off-spring...
