So yet another idea, I'll probably persist till I get one over the line or get told to stop :)

The idea is to build two models of subjects that were opponents, so it could as broad as  Spitfire and an Me109, or a Sherman and a Tiger, a Mercedes and a Red Bull or a specific fight eg Roy Brown's Sopwith Camel and Richthofens Dr1. Any takers?

Could be a bit of fun for 2023.

I'm in as well, however may I suggest you rename this GB proposal to 'Dogfight Double' or something similar to that,?

I suspect  this familiar title would attract more attention and possibly end up finally pushing you over the line in the end of year bunfight.

Cheers.. Dave (subject choice undecided however an IAI Dagger vs. SeaCat SAM is appealing to me)

This sounds interesting - I’ll need to do a lot of research though.

I’m thinking of maybe one of Lt Bill Atkinson’s Air to Air victories in the Pacific but I need to find out about the Japanese Air Force Markings.  I’ll probably go down in scale to 1/72 for this though..

Sounds like a good proposal to me, I could do something from the Soccer War, one of the Indo-Pakistan wars or something from either side in the Spanish Civil War, plenty to choose from, count me in.

I’d be keen for this one.

Something Malta themed springs to fine.

I do agree with Rabbit Leader that a change of name might be a good idea.

I was trying to avoid Dogfight Double as it’s probably an Airfix trademark :) but yes, hmm I’ll try Dogfight till someone comes up with something clever :)

‘Dogfight Duel’ perhaps? …. that still keeps some semblance of your original title?

Cheers.. Dave

That would be a great idea, I kind of do this already.

To maybe make it a bit more attractive, perhaps you could add in that one of the subjects of the double could be an already built kit?

Gidday, a potential problem with the word 'dogfight' is that I think it usually gets associated with aircraft combat (to me anyway) whereas I believe this GB applies to any form of combat.

I don't claim these to be clever but how about something like Deadly Dualists, Opposing Combatants, Locked in Battle, Fight to the Death or simply Adversaries. Just a thought. Regards, Jeff.

Hmm I think for me part of the novelty ( the USP even) of the proposal is making you build a pair of models and possibly something you might not otherwise build.   @Ambrose9

Actually the Duel proposal from five years ago, but I'd really like that one 🙂

I’d agree and in my head I’m thinking of things like the first tank to tank battle in WWI, the Bismarck and the Hood or ( if you’re well off enough to afford the kits) the end of the 2021 formula one season.

In fact we could even throw in a bit of Sci Fi, how about the Enterprise vs a Klingon bird of prey?

@ArnoldAmbrose Should I count you in?

Gidday, I'd like to but as ships are my thing I'll have to keep my eye out for some small ones. USS Washington vs IJN Kirishima or two of the seven carriers at Midway would probably be a bit much for me to accomplish in the time frame.

Oh, go on, please put me down. Thanks. Regards, Jeff.

Ships aren’t my thing but I have a Bismarck in the stash that might go well with a Hood or a Rodney.

And besides you have at least a year to acquire suitable kits/plans etc. :)

Gidday, or a KGV or Prince of Wales. The PoW hit Bismarck three times in the Denmark Strait before being forced to retire. One of those hits went right through the bows without exploding but had dire consequences for Bismarck. It was above the waterline but below the bow-wave. It caused the bow compartments to flood, it cut off access to the fuel stored there and that fuel started to leak, leaving a slick behind that the catalina found and followed.     Sorry, I got a bit carried away there. Regards, Jeff.

No need to apologise I’ve read two books on the Bismarck and one in the Fairey swordfish in the last 18 months so I should probably know the history better myself :)

I've just checked the stash and found sets of Russian and USN Cold War submarines in 1/700, or I could scratch build some WW2 fighters so I'm definitely in. Regards, Jeff.

It's one of those GB proposals that has got the old cogs turning... I'm in.

Re: the GB name, how about Duel Combo?

Which has given me an earworm...

Spoiler

...which, with its Lombard RAC Rally connections, has fuelled a nascent notion of McRae vs Makinen, hmmm...

I like this one! Most likely I'd build a Vulcan and one of its Soviet counterparts, but I might build a Tu144 and Concorde or, assuming Beacon Models have their 1/144 Battle of Britain range of kits out then maybe a pair from that.
