Great start Chris Thanks Chris, Managed to get some Revell Aluminium Enamel so should be able to get on with this from Wednesday. 11 hours ago, Lewis95 said: Oooh gotta love a Sunderland! I, like you, seem to have an affinity for big kits but not the space for them. Still, I have 72nd Bear H and a Valkyrie on the shelf after purchasing them both last year. Looks like we're afflicted. Always fancied the Valkyrie but I believe the kit is extremely challenging. Cheers, Alistair

TonyOD
The Sunderland is a WW2 Big Plane that remains curiously absent from my stash. Possibly because it wasn't quite as sexy as your Lancs or your B-17s. Going to follow your progress with interest if I may.

AliGauld
I've not been ignoring this as I was trying to get the Phantom over the line before the New Year. I did have to have a long think about this one as I made a complete, Ahem, mess of removing the port side waist gun window. Turns out it was nothing that styrene strip and filler couldn't sort. It might need some more work but I'll see how it goes. Paint has been plastered over some of the internals and the decal was placed on the IP. I've not been able to find any contemporary phots showing if there were seat belts on the chairs, so I'm going with no unless someone can tell me otherwise. I've got some foil ready to go if I need it. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair

You can see from these photos, the ASV/Navigators stations have no seat belts/harness (neither the radio/Flt engineers stations have belts either). The below is a period photo of an RNZAF Navigator at his station, note he is not wearing a belt/harness (The Sunderland flight deck can be quite fluid at times, especially with the Navigator using both the Nav station and the GPI position (directly behind 1st Pilot (Portside)) (RNZAF Official - Air Force Museum of New Zealand - Used with Permissions) Hope these are of help? AliGauld
Some paint and glue has been flung about. Once that's dried sufficiently I'll get them all put together. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair

k5054nz
Your cryptic titles often put me off/confuse me but I'm glad I came into this thread as I quite like Sunderlands, and this is shaping up very nicely! 1

AliGauld
Some more internal bits were primed, masked and sprayed. The Revell Aluminium Enamel was as thick in the pot as their Aqua Colours are but I'm happy to report that ColourCoats Thinner worked beautifully with it and unlike Humbrol Enamels it cut the drying time down to about 10 minutes for masking. I'm off to start Dinner at the moment but there may be more later. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair
GREG DESTEC
Nice cockpit👍 There's a neck of a lot more details on this kit than in the old Airfix one. Looking good, Cheers, and Happy New Year Greg

AliGauld
The lower deck was stuck together and necessary decals placed. And just because I can. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair
AliGauld
The portholes that needed filled were, in fact, filled. I've also sloshed some Aluminium and Interior Green paint about. I've encountered my first issue with the kit. Nothing major though. The stairs from the lower deck are too wide too fit in the gap between the toilet and the corridor. Nothing a bit of sanding couldn't solve. I'm pretty sure it will never be seen again once the fuselage is buttoned up and if that's my only issue I will consider myself lucky. More later when I've painted the bench seats brown and started to stick stuff in. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair

AliGauld
Not much to report today, A gloss coat on the internals for a light wash once it's dry. mark.au
Looks great so far Alistair. There’s more parts for the interior of this one than for my entire current Airfix Spitfire !
