I’m not sure if you haven’t used more filler than I did on a new Albacore fuselage half! Looking good, can’t wait for paint…

Regards,

Adrian

Thanks Adrian,

I'm not sure either but it's about half a tube so far.

I'm exhausted just reading about it. I'd never be able to maintain your standards with a kit like this. All hail AG!

Thanks Bertie,

I'm just too stubborn to give in to a bit of plastic. ;)

Cheers,

Alistair

Nacelles fitted.

A word for warning for @Dunny they required a fair bit of thinning to get an adequate fit but a smear of PPP wiped back and they should be good.

I also got the PVA masking done in the rest of the portholes.

And finally for tonight got the bomb rack fitted.

Some Stylnlrez black has been flung about. All the seams look reasonably ok.

I'll get some rescribing done tomorrow and then some colour, and, about flaming time too. :D

Thanks for looking,

I hope you're wearing your jewelled battle shorts.

I'd leave it black if I were you, it looks great like that.

Craig.

Alistair,

That's looking lovely - your hard work has certainly paid off! I presume you're going to marble this one too?

Cheers,

Roger

Thanks Craig,

I always have my battle shorts to hand along with a sack of potatoes in case I need to vent. :D

  • 2 weeks later...

No, I haven't forgotten this one.

The Stynlrez had fish-eyed in a few places so that got rubbed back and then my Nephew broke the starboard horizontal stabiliser.

That got reglued and filled. When sanded back I went out to the garage and sprayed some Nato Black about the place to cover all the imperfections.

All that's holding me back now is getting up the nerve and oomph to do the rescribing necessary and figure out what I'm going to do with the wing lights.

I may give this some time and build up the engines, cowlings and beaching gear to let me plan my way through it.

The engines are together.

I tried a quick dry fit and they do need a little fettling to get a snug fit as Dunny said.

Then a little Nuln Oil in the wheels to hide the shoddy hand painting.

That's all folks.

No! Not the shoddy hand-painting, you have to leave the shoddy hand-painting! In my case, that's what distinguishes my models from other people's models. 'Ah, yes, just look at the shoddy hand-painting of the wheels, this must definitely be a 'Moore' model. From his 'Blue' period.'

I would never attempt to copy the work of a great artist such as your good self. :D

Never be too concerned about how long a kit/build is taking Al, it takes the time it takes, as long as it is to your satisfaction and you are more than happy with it, that's all wot matters. I stopped trying to get a bit done every day;  as I have so many things to do, my talents are needed elsewhere at times in the house or the garden, or I'm not feeling great and need to rest up; but I dont worry about how long. Long quantity of time brings high quality in the build!😉
The Sunderland is looking great, very stealthy in its black pyjamas!😀

Great work! I also use cocktail sticks for wheels, or whatever I can get to fit into them, I then paint the wheel, both sides; and set the Dremel up slow and put the cocktail stick in the jaws of the Dremel and just spin them to do the tyres, always works a treat!😉
