AdrianMF
Actually now I see the underside on my PC screen not the phone, your lanolin coating doesn't look bad at all - maybe a bit heavy but I've seen photos where it all goes a bit dark down there. There's a particularly prevalent set of pics (just googling "Short Sunderland") of "RB-C" at rest where you take one look at the waterline and go "Ewwww".... Looking forward to wherever you take it. Regards, Adrian Thanks Adrian, That is proper filthy. I decided to give @Dunny's lightly misted white a try first and one Blackadder Fishfork moment later. It works a lot better in natural light but I'm happy with that, so, many thanks yet again Roger. Another fantastic save from him. Once that's dry I'll get a clear coat over it and then some oils just to give it some variation and a bit of a fouling greenish hue around the waterline. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair 10

Brigbeale
I have now caught up with your build having found the thread from afresh. I’m completely amazed with the terrific work you’ve put in on this kit. I have an old Airfix Sunderland, which I purchased off eBay for a restoration project. It’s just in bare yellowed white plastic with a couple of bits broken off. if it turns out even half as good as your one, I’ll be very happy. 2

I'm certain it will be factors better. Cheers, Alistair
AliGauld
We are finally ahead of the game and into new territory. Various turrety bits and pieces primed, painted or masked. Some painting with the hairy stick still required but we are moving on finally. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair
Silenoz
A real marvel to see how you saved this beasty from the self-imposed misfortune... excellent recovery and even progress 😉

Hi Alistair, Looking great 👍 Just a quick comment for you to consider (not wishing to create more work for you) the rear of both the FN11 and FN5B Turrets (latter used on Mk V), had the rear section that looks like this photo below (yes looks like the giant Robot ) Regards Alan 3
Dunny
Dare we dream of the finish line?! Turrets are looking most crisp Alistair - great work, Cheers, Roger 1

Chris Thanks Chris, A little more still to do on the lanolin but at least if I don't think it's working it can just be wiped off. 5 hours ago, LDSModeller said: Hi Alistair, Looking great 👍 Just a quick comment for you to consider (not wishing to create more work for you) the rear of both the FN11 and FN5B Turrets (latter used on Mk V), had the rear section that looks like this photo below (yes looks like the giant Robot ) Regards Alan Thanks so much for that Alan, I'll have a think about how to drill the windows out. The plastic is pretty thin so I'll need to be careful if I go ahead. 5 hours ago, Dunny said: Dare we dream of the finish line?! Hi Alistair, You won't need to drill out the windows, really just a couple of round masks (as turret rear part is clear) and paint the rear of turret and you will end up with the same feature, which are clear transparencies. That's how I plan to do it on mine when I eventually arrive at the same point of construction Hope that Helps? Regards Alan 2

Regards Alan Thanks for that Alan, I was looking at the wrong part as the picture looked like the rear turret to me. . As you say a couple of circles of tape should do the trick. That helps a lot and stops me making another howling error. Cheers, Alistair
AliGauld
Sitting in front of the PC this morning I got on with some oil work. I'm quite pleased with the final effect there. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair

AdrianMF
Looking good! Presumably if the front turret is going to point straight ahead-ish, the back will be in darkness so you could just paint two black spots on the inside of the back face... AliGauld
Some more masking and EDSG The outrigger floats got their light grey lanolin coat. I wonder if Raymond Cusick ever contemplated a 2 eyestalk design for the Daleks. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair 8
