LCM Mk.9 (Royal Navy) - detailed photos?

HelIo all,

I am preparing my projects for next year's Falklands GB and intend to scratchbuild an LCM Mk.9 as used with HMS Fearless and Intrepid.

I have the measurements but, after much Googling and other engine searches, I cannot seem to find any "detailed" views of these craft that are good enough for modelling purposes.  All I have managed to find are the later LCM Mk.9R and LCM Mk.10s or the American craft.

Does anyone here have access to any good views of these LCMs please.? They don't have to be Falklands views, these craft were around from the early 1960s to the late 1980s and any detailed images would be of great help.

Thanks in advance for any assistance with this, and wishing you all the very best during this festive period.

Mike, many years ago I put some photos of HMS Fearless and HMS Intrepid on my old website. There are a few of pictures of the landing craft but maybe not too clear for your purposes although there may be some details that may be of use. Go to https://www.davecov.org/modelling/ships/britain/pictures/amphibiousships/lpd/lpd.htm and click on the ship's names to see the photos for each.

One of the LCM Mk.9 still seems to be about - she is now the Severn Sins and based at Bridport, Dorset - some modification especially a new engine:

The last listing of her position was in Nantes, France - see

which has some more photos of her

Have a good Christmas!!

Thanks Dave,

every little helps.   I was based on the Intrepid when that photo of Teamwork 1980 was taken.

AAGH!!  you have just reminded me that we saw two LCM.9s on our holidays!  :banghead:

One in Greenland in 2010

and one in Guernsey in 2013.  Perhaps @LaurieS could pop over from Jersey and get some better photos!

Obviously these craft had been changed and converted for civilian use; therefore, I am still looking for close-in detailed views of their time in naval service.  Thanks for the links Mike

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas :santa:
