72modeler
I stumbled upon this article just now, and I thought many of you would find it of interest, especially as the Collings Foundation has one in airworthy condition, and there is one preserved in the UK, and IIRC in Australia being restored. In addition, Kermit Weeks also has one at his Fantasy of Flight facility.* Very interesting story ; couldn't get away with doing something like this nowadays! Mike http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/IAF/Aircraft/History/927-B24.html#gsc.tab=0 * Thanks to Bentwaters81 for the information. Bobby No Mac
Also, that site's a great resource for pictures of IAF subjects, both current and vintage. Thanks!
bentwaters81tfw
Kermit Weeks has one unrestored, and he does a comprehensive internal 'walkaround' on Youtube. He intends to fully restore and fly it in due course. This aircraft spent over 3 years at Duxford being repaired and awaiting forward flight after knocking out an engine. I did send him an email with extra details and some corrections about it's history, but never got an acknowledgement. Excellent find, never knew they revived 24 of them. Army_Air_Force
Back in the 1990s, I was a member of an R/C aircraft club. One of the members was out in India at the end of the war and took part in the scrapping of B-24s and P-51's. He said they drained the engine oil and ran the engines until they seized. The P-51s had all the flying surfaces smashed with sledge hammers to disable them. The B-24s were parked in revetment banks, petrol bowers chained to the main landing gear and driven away until the gear collapsed and the main spar broke on the revetments. I was cringing all the way through the story at the history they so casually destroyed. Here's the RAF Museum B-24, which I believe was ex-Indian AF. RidgeRunner
Many who attended the 1974 Greenham Common air show will recall the Indian Liberator ferry on its way to Lyneham (I think). She performed at least one flypast. She is now with the RAF Museum. https://www.airhistory.net/photo/177169/HE807 Martin 1

I recall an announcement being made late in the day about a surprise item passing through... and what a surrise it was!! Trouble was I finished off all my film in both cameras by then so didn't get a pic! Unlike the lucky person who got that shot as per your link! However to add to the other Indian Libs, there is one in the CASM at Rockliffe ,Ottawa in Canada!!
k5054nz
In the mid-late 1980s Australian-Italian warbird operator the late Guido Zuccoli was reported by FlyPast, Aeroplane Monthly or another magazine as looking into acquiring an IAF Liberator to take back to Australia for restoration. What if?...

Stayed for a couple of weeks before flying over to Colerne for their collection initially.
