BritJet Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 This started as the RugRatResins Viscount 700 and the fuselage had to be shortened in the wing root area and the wingspan reduced at the wing root. I made a master for the engine nacelles and vacformed the left and right halves. New main undercarriage was scratchbuilt and consists of two legs either side of each jetpipe. Painted with Alclad and dulled down a bit with a clear coat, the decals were drawn in CorelDraw and printed at home. 9 Thanks for looking. Steve 57 3
cngaero Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Lovely. Now that's what I call a conversion.
BritJet Posted December 21, 2021 Author Posted December 21, 2021 Thanks, it was a lot of work but one I've wanted to do for a very long time. Steve
kapam Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Amazing looking plane - was this only a prototype or did it go further in production? The conversion work, which looks extensive and tricky, has turned out brilliantly. Congratulations!
Eric Mc Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 That is impressive. It looks a bit like what might happen if a Viscount had its way with an Me262. 1 2
gazza l Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Very nice work on this interesting subject. gazza I
foxhandybread Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Now THAT is very cool. Beautiful looking aircraft—lovely metal finish too. Great job 👍
BritJet Posted December 23, 2021 Author Posted December 23, 2021 Thanks all for the kind comments. Later used for fly by wire trials until scrapped when of no further use. Steve
Head in the clouds. Posted December 25, 2021 Posted December 25, 2021 Great scratchbuilding there Steve, I have been after this kit for ages but as usual they are like hens teeth. On the up side, you have shown me a new pathway in which to move forward..👍 Can you slow down though, your building everything I want to build...🤪, no seriously, carry on, it is nice to see them represented.
BritJet Posted December 28, 2021 Author Posted December 28, 2021 Cheers. If you can't get the RugRat kit then see if you can find the old Airways vacform - avoid the Mach2 kit as the wing section is upside down and the nose/cockpit look wrong. I have had a busy year but will try to leave a few builds for you to do! Steve 1

Wulfman Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 A beautiful build and conversion on a very basic kit ! Wulfman

Wulfman It's not too basic and had a good shape to it. It comes with a lot of etched brass - a most of it goes in the cockpit and can't be seen and nearly all of the rest is for the main landing gear which I didn't need to use! Steve
Ryan Lumb Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 A lovely looking aircraft, one that I have seen in a video but forgotten its name until now. A fantastic build you have done 😊
Ad-4N Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 Great job on an aircraft I had never heard of before.
BritJet Posted December 3, 2023 Author Posted December 3, 2023 Thanks both, I enjoyed doing it but there was a lot of work that seemed to go on and on! Steve
TheyJammedKenny! Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 This is most impressive, and the airfield display gives it a nice "finish." What's that on the Queen Mary trailer, I spy? A Vampire fuselage?
BritJet Posted December 4, 2023 Author Posted December 4, 2023 Cheers. Well spotted it is exactly that, an old Merlin Models Vampire T11 fuselage that was put out of its misery once the lovely Airfix one was available. Steve 1
