F2H-4 Banshee cockpit

I would think there would be very little in the FH-1 set that would be accurate for the later variant. IIRC, Obscureco did a resin F2H-3 cockpit that should work for an F2H-4, as the only differences between it and the dash 3 were an uprated  radar and engines, @Tailspin Turtle would be the one to ask about cockpit commonality.

Thanks Mike. Was hoping there was some upgrade set for the Academy F2H-3/4.

seems there is nothing available. 😢

Au contraire!  There IS something available.

Obscureco make a cockpit upgrade that fits the ex-Hobbycraft 1/72 F2H-3/4 kit also boxed by Academy. (click the link!)

That Don Hinton cockpit photo is of an F2H-2P cockpit and what looks like a radar scope is really the periscope (located in lieu of the gunsight) for aiming the downward-looking cameras by maneuvering the airplane. The radar scope was much bigger and located in the middle of the instrument panel: see https://tailspintopics.blogspot.com/2009/12/f2h-banshee-modeling-notes.html. I'm pretty sure that there was no difference in 1/72 scale between the -3 and -4 cockpit. Also note that the nose landing gear in the kit is incorrect for the -3/4 (click on the link at the top of the post). The jury is still out on whether the -4 had uprated engines.

Tommy.

Pretty sure what you say is correct-, and I had forgotten that the Dash 2 at the NMNA was a -2P. I was trying to explain that I didn't think there was much commonality between the FH-1 and F2H-2/3/4 cockpits. The cockpit photos I took at the NMNA at Pensacola of the FH-1 and F2H-2P were very different, but I haven't mastered  how to post photos, yet. The FH-1 instrument panel always reminded me of the one on the F7F the way it was laid out.

I have the Obscureco resin cockpit. It looks quite nice, and it includes the tub, ejection seat, front coaming, instrument panel, gun sight, rear deck, and front wheel well. I bought it about a year ago. It wasn't the quickest of shipments, but it got here eventually. I can post a photo if you like.

Cheers,

Bill

Did u pay via check or money order? I can't believe he doesn't have PayPal.🤨

Good question. I'm thinking at the time he accepted credit cards. The guy who runs Obscureco is the editor for the IPMS USA journal, as you may know. Here is a picture of the Banshee set that I bought from them:
