f matthews Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 This is a build I’ve been working on in small bits since the Panzer III GB earlier this year ended. That got me motivated to do another Pz III. These Dragon Panzer III kits are really nicely done. Assembly is straightforward and enjoyable. I got to this stage within a few days last Spring then got distracted. 9
f matthews Posted December 17, 2021 Author Posted December 17, 2021 A little turret work. And in three sessions (over the course of several months) the construction was largely complete. 12
PlaStix Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 Great to see you making another Pz.III. I really like these Dragon kits and it looks like you are doing a great job with this one. I look forward to following your progress. Kind regards, Stix 1
f matthews Posted December 17, 2021 Author Posted December 17, 2021 I got the basecoat painted a month or so back. 12
f matthews Posted December 21, 2021 Author Posted December 21, 2021 Tracks now assembled. Getting closer… 11
f matthews Posted January 20, 2022 Author Posted January 20, 2022 (edited) Filters and washes were applied to tone down the markings and liven up the monochromatic finish. Edited January 20, 2022 by f matthews 14
edjbartos Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 That’s beautifully painted, really does look good.. Ed 1
f matthews Posted January 20, 2022 Author Posted January 20, 2022 Just now, edjbartos said: That’s beautifully painted, really does look good.. Ed Thanks! Finish line is in sight at last. 1
diablo rsv Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 As Ed said, that is an excellent finish, a good example of how washes and filters should be used, they make a big difference when done properly. Wayne 2
vytautas Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 (edited) Looks perfect, as always! Vytautas Edited January 21, 2022 by vytautas 1
Nenad Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Fantastic work. RAL 7021 is always tricky to make it look good, but this one turned out great. I love those Dragon kits, but unfortunately they are becoming harder and harder to find. Nenad 1
PlaStix Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 WOW!! Very impressive paintwork and weathering! Kind regards, Stix 1
Lazy Modeller Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Beautiful job you've got there! Cheers Lazy modeler was here! 1
f matthews Posted February 10, 2022 Author Posted February 10, 2022 (edited) The tank is now complete. I added tow cleat pin chains, then weathered the mufflers. Finally, I dusted and dirtied lower hull and running gear and installed the tracks. Next up is the display base… Box art often inspires my builds. Edited February 10, 2022 by f matthews 9
vaoinas Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 I love those early Panzer III's and this is a great example of one. Beautiful modelling and finish. I really like the marking choice too. 1
f matthews Posted February 10, 2022 Author Posted February 10, 2022 A few better-lit detail shots: I promise to not post any more shots until this one is mounted on the finished base! 11
fatfingers Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 Very nicely done and great tonal variation on the grey finish 👍 Regards, Steve 1
