Hi,

Arsenal VG 33 was the most elegant and modern fighter designed in France before WW2. The production number was very small (seven plus few prototypes of variants like VG 34, 36, 39). It did not played any role in 1940 campaign, they were captured by Germans and tested at Rechlin, but found not useful for Luftwaffe. The model presents the sixth production machine, following the color profile published in A.Jouineau & D.Breffort, "French Aircraft from 1939 to 1942" No. 7 in series Planes and Pilots issued Historie & Collection , 2004.

The model was converted from VG 36 kit, I wanted to build VG 33 rather then sole prototype VG 36 but the model of VG 33/39 was beyond any chance to buy...

Comments welcome

Looks like a Merlin- or Allison-engined Reggiane or Macchi in French clothes :)

Thanks for sharing 👍

Thanks! Indeed, the lines of Arsenal VG series 30 are very elegant...And recalls rather  Italian design school

I have just come across French information that the only unit using the VG-33 operationally in 1940 was the Polish Escadrille Legere de Defense "KR", operating from Châteaudun under GCD I / 55. The flight was made up of 4 pilots - Maj. Zdzisław Krasnodębski (hence KR), 2nd Lt.  Jan Zumbach (later the famous Donald of RAF 303 Sq), Corporal Marian Bełc and Corporal Stanisław Karubin. And it was the latter who achieved the only victory for the flight, shooting down a Dornier Do17 on June 3 over Etampes. After the fall of France, all the pilots of the flight crossed on June 21 by a ship from Bordeaux to England and all of them joined the RAF 303 Squadron.

Unfortunately, the document does not say the code of Cpl. Karubin's plane ...

Cheers

Michael
