72modeler
Found this just now and I don't recall seeing the footage posted here, so for all my new Aussie modeling mates, here it is. What a rugged little fighter that gave sterling service and was developed in an amazingly short time period. Makes me want to pull one of my Special Hobby kits from the stash! Enjoy! I made my first Airfix Boomerang (what were they thinking of in those days? ) over 50 years ago so have long had a soft spot for it. 20 years ago, our friend, Wayne Milburn, mentioned late in the video as a pilot on Guido Zuccoli's Boomerang, brought it across the ditch to Nelson where it was re-erected & displayed at Classic Fighters airshow at Omaka in 2001. I've long had a plan to recreate that machine as a model. Seeing this has rekindled that ambition. Steve.
Peter Roberts
Spoke to a Boomerang pilot many years ago who told me how he used to fly low over the New Guinea jungle and wait to be shot at by Japanese forces, then mark their positions. Was quite calm about it all too. I also remember looking and feeling stupid - it left me speechless. 2

Kind of like the observation pilots in WW2 and their FAC brothers in SEA who drew fire and then rained all kinds of whupa-- down on their assailants...come to think of it, the Boomerang would have made a great FAC platform in SEA!
