nheather
After the UK left the EU did we lose the £15 threshold below which imports are considered for import tax. It looks like it has gone but just wanted to make sure. Cheers, Nigel
treker_ed
Topic has been covered quite a few times and usually ends up with a few naughty comments about topics that should not be discussed on the site..... This may cover all your questions (if you can dig out the salient points amongst all the ramblings! The other thing you may do is look up on the HMRC - https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty Found this just by doing a quick google search on "£15 import allowance"
Circloy
Rules for personal imports have been changing worlwide as Governments try and redress the loss of revenue caused by it citizens purchasing on-line which is the real root cause of the change. Timing of the UK's implementation was such that it was done at the same time as other changes. I believe changes for personal imports into Australia & N.Z. were put in place around 2 years ago.

Sure this used to describe a £15 (excluding postage) threshold where VAT was not applied. But reading it now that doesn’t seem to be the case any more, it seems that there is no threshold at all any more. But I posted here to check that my understanding is correct. The reason I ask is that I have a long standing board game expansion pre-order from a US Company - it is under £15 so had no worries when I placed the pre-order but now thinking I could cancel because it will now be subject to VAT and courier admin fees which will be disproportionate.
