Giampiero Piva
Surely one of the lesser known German aircraft, produced in only 7 examples in 1943-44, it was produced by Huma Modell in 1/72 scale in the 90s, with an overall satisfactory result. A few years ago, thanks to the collaboration of a German friend who provided me with new documentation, I decided to build it. The cockpit required some details, while for the internal surfaces of the semi-fuselages I had to proceed with the construction of the entire structure from scratch. Wings and tail planes have undergone less important changes. The aircraft shown is the first prototype, practically the only one of which there are usable images, during the towing tests in Erfurt-Nord in March 1944. The model is painted in classic 70/71/65 (mix of Humbrol Enamels); the letters of the code are 'printed at home', as those in the kit are slightly incorrect and in any case of poor quality; finally crosses and swastikas come from various sheets. Hope you like. Thanks for viewing Criticisms and suggestions welcome. JWM
Great work and result! I have that one in stash, not going to work on it soon, for sure your build will be a reference one for me one day... I hope mine will be a half good of yours... BTW - do you have any (not even good) photo of this machine from series ? Regards J-W

There are several photos of one or more '430 under construction and a fairly well-known photo of a completely burned-out GoKa.

Thank you. I was just curios, what exists? There is another code machine on color profile: and I just wonder if it is whatif or a real thing... The burned (skinned?) one shows nicely inner structure: but it is said, that it is the first prototype as well. On a Russian web page (airwar.ru) today I've googled right now more photos - here as armed one on display (without left wing? Perhaps a mock-up, because it is said that "of 9 ordered only 6 serial machines were produced plus a full scale mock-up for loading tests"): and few more: http://www.airwar.ru/image/idop/glider/ka430/ka430-2.jpg http://www.airwar.ru/image/idop/glider/ka430/ka430-7.jpg and a drawing http://www.airwar.ru/image/idop/glider/ka430/ka430-1.gif But... BINGO!? Here is another machine with different scheme and other code! (here: http://alternathistory.com/opytnyj-transportno-desantnyj-planer-kalkert-ka-430-germaniya/) http://alternathistory.com/sites/default/files/users_/user8959/kalkert_ka_430-08.jpg (code IK+AV????) Regards J-W P.S. I have found the another photo of what I thought depicts production Ka 430 in fact this is a version of Ghota 242 a-2 with code VM+AV and with rear part of fuselage already very similar to Ka 430... Done for tests... Edited November 30, 2021 by JWM added P.S> (after 5 minutes)
Buzby061
A fantastic build & expertly painted. Even more impressive as it's 72nd scale. Pete
