So Who's Building What??

 

Your co-hosts Pat @JOCKNEY and I (Dave) @Rabbit Leader are proud to welcome you all to the up and coming Matchbox '50th Anniversary' Group Build. This GB will run over the dates 08 January to 05 June 2022 (unless otherwise extended!) and we sincerely hope that we will be in a position to tick off as many (if not all) of the fantastic originally issued and designed Matchbox 'Lesney Products' kits from our happy childhood memories.

 

With the kind assistance of @Ratch, I have listed below the vast number of original Matchbox kits by their PK kit number and Colour coding range. The still current Matchbox GB Chat thread indicates that we have many members willing to participate in this group build, so when you get the chance could you please drop me a quick post below and advise what your prospective nominated build(s) is/are. In good time (and please make allowances for time zone differences) I will update this list so that we can see which Matchbox kits look to be popular ones and also those kits that for some reason or another look likely to be avoided.

 

Now you are most welcome to nominate a kit that has already been chosen by another builder - i.e. its OK to have more than one example of the same kit being built. The aim of this list to highlight the vast scope of Matchbox kits on offer and possibly a list that may steer you to choose a unique subject, should that particular Matchbox kit not have been previously chosen. This way, we may be able to cover as many (if not all) of the great kits that Matchbox blessed us with all those years ago. 

 

So here's and example -

I've decided to build the 1/32 Lysander and 1/72 F9F Panther (there may be others?). If you scroll down, you will see my name appear in Blue and the subject kit highlighted in Red. (Edit) Member names now underlined in black are direct links to each WIP thread. Blue names will convert to Black links once each member starts there Matchbox GB kit WIP thread. 

 

Now its only two weeks until this GB starts, so lets have a little bit of Matchbox fun leading up to M-Day (8 January 2022).

 I only have a couple Matchbox kits untouched and they are the Norseman and DHC Twin Otter. If the mood takes me, then it might be both but at this time I feel the Norseman will reach my bench first as I have the new decal sheet from Thunderbird Models on the way. So count me in please.

Great stuff Paul. Having previously built two and have another one stashed. the Matchbox Norseman is a pet favourite of mine.

I’m going to have a crack at a Wellesley and am buying up other Matchbox stuff (in a bout of nostalgia). If (medium sized if!) I get that done, will look at doing other stuff too
