Morantbay
Hi All - seeking some help with references. Just got Rye Filed Models Pz III J and Winterketten in the mail ... was hoping these two lovely items would be able to go together. On paper, it seemed like a match ... as far as I was aware, the high point of Winterketten use would have been the winter of 42-43, and J production would have wound up the prior July. Have been drawing a total blank on period photos however. Can anyone point me toward some? Or was attrition on the summer production of J's so severe as to render this combination virtually, or literally, unheard of?
Foxbat
I found two so far: Pz III Ausf J - Armorama and Pz III Ausf J - Flikr There's also this which claims to be a J but with the spaced armour on the hull front is more likely an L. Longbow
You’re pretty safe doing a Totenkopf vehicle at Kharkov. Stug III with Winterketten fitted. Panzer IV in the rear. III in the front. Both with Winterketten.
Morantbay
Thanks guys. Rarely model SS, but 3 SS is looking appealing in this case, Found another couple pictures, seems like they got a relatively high allocation of the fancy tracks, Part of their gold plated supply priority I guess.
