Homebee Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 (edited) After the F/A-18E & F Super Hornet kits (ref. LS-012 & LS-013), Meng is to release a 1/48th Boeing EA-18G Growler kit - ref. MrB17 Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 This is very tempting, It would be my first Meng kit. Normally not much of an F-18 fan, however we get a lot of noise here from NAS Whidbey. When the EA-18G Growler’s take off on 07, we hear the rumbling of the afterburners big time, some people think it’s an earth tremor! NAS Whidbey is about 45km from here. They also fly over, albeit at altitude. I do miss the Prowler, not as noisy but looked nice flying in pairs. The crew figures look nice, the JHMCS is a nice option for the helmet. For me, seated crew negate the addition of the remove before flight tags and pins. From experience, USN didn’t shut down until you put all the pins in and I don’t fancy hanging all the tags. Lots of colourful CAG birds to do. 🤔 Jeff 3
Homebee Posted December 20, 2021 Author Posted December 20, 2021 (edited) Scheme A, B & C Source: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=4691747727605181&id=195290177250981 Quote Growler over the War Zone MENG has prepared three different paint schemes for aircraft of different units in the LS-014 1/48 Boeing EA-18G Growler Electronic Attack Aircraft kit. The paint scheme A is for the aircraft piloted by CAPT Jeff Craig and weapon systems officer CAPT Tom Slais of VAQ-132 "Scorpions" Electronic Attack Squadron during Operation Odyssey Dawn in 2011. This is the first that the EA-18G was used in combat. The perfect performance of the Growlers gave the NATO coalition forces an advantage and guaranteed the rapid deployment of coalition air strikes during the operation. During Operation Odyssey Dawn, no coalition aircraft was shot down by Libyan fighters or air defense fire. VAQ-132 is the second EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft squadron deployed to Japan. Callaway of VAQ-139 "Cougars" Electronic Attack Squadron aboard USS Carl Vinson in 2014. That’s all for the paint schemes included in the LS-014 Boeing EA-18G Growler Electronic Attack Aircraft kit. We will show the details and other highlights of this kit in our future updates. V.P. Edited December 20, 2021 by Homebee 4

GTX Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 I am kind of surprised they appear to have not included at least one decal set for a RAAF option: Best of all would be one with the 100th Anniversary marking:

Homebee Posted December 6, 2024 Author Posted December 6, 2024 (edited) New boxing expected in January 2025 - ref. LS-019 - Boeing EA-18G Growler - Electronic Attack Aircraft Yellow Jackets Sources: https://tieba.baidu.com/p/9310769409 https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=pfbid0AzqEZjnYNpC5UseUe8SQgZhGTr9A4e43e1hng6Gi2cT64zCM6jtcghwogKBCLCPhl&id=100028842416849 Quote Airborne Electronic Warfare Specialist In modern wars, electronic warfare has become as important as firepower strikes. The Boeing EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft is born for this mission. It can perform various theater electronic warfare tasks such as electromagnetic countermeasures, electronic interception and communication countermeasures. The U.S. Navy VAQ-138 "Yellow Jackets" Electronic Attack Squadron was established in February 1976, initially equipped with the EA-6B Prowler electronic warfare aircraft and deployed aboard the USS Saratoga (CV-60). The squadron began transitioning to the EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft between late 2009 and 2010. In 2011, it deployed to Iraq and Kuwait in support of Operation New Dawn, followed by a deployment to the Middle East in 2013 to participate in Operation Enduring Freedom. Since then, the squadron has been frequently stationed overseas, carrying out various missions. This latest MENG LS-019 1/48 Boeing EA-18G Growler Electronic Attack Aircraft Yellow Jackets model is 378mm long and 285mm wide after assembly. This kit includes pre-cut stainless steel PE parts, pre-cut painting masks and two paint schemes. It has accurate ALQ-99 high/low band jamming pods, ALQ-218V(2) tactical receivers and electronic warfare antennae. The specially designed pluggable main pylons allow the easy change of electronic pods or external fuel tanks. This kit includes the AGM-88 high-speed anti-radiation missiles. The paint scheme A is the high-visibility livery of the aircraft of Lieutenant Colonel M.J. Simpson, the commanding officer of VAQ-138 "Yellow Jackets," and Lieutenant Colonel B.L. Jones, the electronic warfare officer, stationed at Misawa Air Base in Japan in 2022. The yellow jacket emblem on the vertical stabilizer is particularly striking. Misawa Air Base is located in Misawa City, Aomori Prefecture, at the northern tip of Honshu Island. It hosts both Japan Air Self-Defense Force and the U.S. military troops. Scheme B represents the low-visibility livery of the aircraft of Captain Mark Gertman and Major Michelle Fessenden, the electronic warfare officer, from VAQ-138 "Yellow Jackets," stationed at Misawa Air Base in Japan in 2022. Research conducted by the U.S. Air Force has shown that at altitudes above 5,000 meters, visual color resolution significantly diminishes, and color differences virtually disappear. In such conditions, the predominant colors perceived are light gray and dark gray. Therefore, the low-visibility livery, which uses two shades of light gray, is designed to better blend with high-altitude backgrounds and enhance concealment. LS-019 Boeing EA-18G Growler Electronic Attack Aircraft Yellow Jackets Scale: 1/48 Available in: January 2025 The motto of VAQ-138 "Yellow Jackets" Electronic Attack Squadron is "Nothing Less Than The Best," a phrase they live up to through their outstanding operations. Now, you too can build a model of this remarkable aircraft and experience the charm of the "Yellow Jackets" for yourself. V.P. Edited December 8, 2024 by Homebee 3
