Airfix Freddy Flameout kit

Natter

Recommended Posts

Hi All, I picked this up at a flea market today. It's the Airfix Freddy Flameout kit, which I believe only ever appeared in the 1967 catalogue. I paid a tenner for it, about what I paid for my other Hawk Weird-Oh kits, but it may be rarer than they are. Does any one out there in Britmodeller-land know any more about it?

I may have seen a YT video a while back delving into that particular era.
As far as I understand it, they only did a few of those 'counterculture' cartoon kit things but it turned out not to be a success in the European market.

Other ones:

Tollway Daddy & Ton-Up-Tony.

Revell later tried to hook into the Hawk re-releases with the Old School cartooney series - the Messa-schnitzel and RIF RAF's spitsfire for example.

I vaguely remember seeing them in the catalogue. Not sure if I ever saw them in a shop though.

I built the Hawk version some years ago and fitted Airfix Skyraider wings and lots of ordnance.

I think you did well for a tenner. Can't be many out there with that box.
