Really nice. I have some AK light gull gray for a Kitty Hawk project. How did it go down?  Thank you.

went down smoother than a babies bum, it works so nicely. i used their own brand thinners with them.

I built them up heavily thinned in layers:

Thanks for all the super nice comments guys its really warmly recieved.

If you read the WIP you can see that I don’t really know what I am doing - theres so many goofs and mistakes.

(first four pages are waffle before the build though)

I wish I had the nerve and the skills to attempt what you have done with this build!

At the risk of telling you three guys what you already know, why don't you buy some cheap junky kits, or pull some things from the draw of shame, and get experimenting? You shouldn't think that you don't have the ability to get better at something, or learn a new technique, or whatever. Practice; experiment with ideas; it's time well spent.

@Dansk I don't often look at this RFI section these days because, to be honest, I don't often see work like this. I'm very glad that I happened to stop by and see it.

I’ll take that as a compliment I think Ade.👍

your advice sounds good, weatherings top fun; it’s my favourite bit of the build I think - if this fool can do some anyone can.

also if you do oil weathering over a gloss coat on your current models you can just wipe it off and start again so theres no risk.

oh also to add to ade’s advice. I don’t know if this is helpful but I try to copy images I see, If i freestyle it it tends to go wrong. I find it easier to copy than to make up. so this build had bits from these among others, so maybe find something that inspires you and try to copy it. (sound like I know what I’m talking about and I don’t 🙃)

I was just about to say it is a bit over-weathered and then you post three pictures that show me just how wrong I am.  😋  Fantastic job.  Looks like the next stop is the Davis-Monthan Air Force Boneyard!!  Amazing.

After a long and bumpy road here’s my Tamiya F-4b 1/48 Phantom II ‘Silver King’ VF-92

It was built in the current phantom groupbuild.

the build thread is here…

Extras: ladder (plus model), aim-9 covers (aerobonus), rbf tags (eduard), decals (furball/tamiya mix), cockpit decals (quinta), belts (hgw)

It was inspired by some pictures of several worn phantoms.

I  tried using AK laquer paints for the first time on this and they went down really well.

Hope you like it.
