There a whole world of tank kits in the so called 15mm, or more precisely 1:100 scale nowadays. It's a new favorite of wargamers and several manufacturers are nowadays producing miniature kits in plastic instead of resin and white metal. The selection of kits is far superior to, say, 1:72/76 in injection molded plastic. V-P

I would support allowing 15mm models as I have a number of "Plastic Model Soldier" kits in my stash and this GB gives my an excuse to build them.

Most trackheads regard everything smaller than 1:35 as too small for them anyway 😁

There are some interesting naval aircraft available in 1/350. You get quite a few in a packet too.

Yes, but you don't have think small just because they are 1:350 scale.

Oh? Yes!

Not sure what I'd build, but plenty of tempting stuff out there ...

I learnt about Takom's Zeppelin kits yesterday, so might go for one of those - one of them is over 500mm long in 1/350 so small scale, but not a small model.

Since you are allowing WiF, I might go for somethig SciFi.

I have some of the Tamiya 1/100 kits, very simple little builds but decent detail. In fact they were my first ever airfield diorama and displayed at Telford 2019.

You can also get some aircraft kits in 1/288 scale - a selection of Antonov twin engine planes were released by Toho and Eastern Express a few years ago.

Built this Kiev based fire bomber a couple of years back - for scale reference, the scene is in the lid from one of those posh coffee tins. Displayed at Halifax show 2020.

Personally I quite like small scales and build a lot in them, others don't as they find it too difficult, but I'm young and have the eyesight and dexterity to work with very small parts. However I don't think that's necessarily a limiting factor, give it a go and see how you get on.

I enjoy building small scale aircraft  too Adam, though I must admit that as a 67 year old with rheumatoid arthritis it can be a bit sore on the hands and it isn't always easy on the eyes. That said, short sessions help and I still manage to achieve resonable results. Many of the 1/144th airliner kits or the Revell C-17 Globemaster can still make a good size model so there's plenty of scope for people to join in if they are worried about the small scale. Here are a some examples of my previous builds.

Count me in I have at least 20 1/144 aircraft kits in the stash and I’m also partial to the odd 1/72 AFV, I think I have a tiger, an Rt and a Char in the stash, although the latter two are earmarked for the matchbox gb.

I enjoy building anything from 1:350 scale upwards although my preference is for 1:144 scale helicopters.

If this GB goes ahead then I shall probably build more of these:

Gidday all, I'm mainly a ship modeler but I've got a few small planes I've done. But they're scratch built.

Many years ago during a bored afternoon I scratch built a Rockwell RA-5 Vigilante. I made it from balsa and thin plywood, and to 1/250 scale. Just a generic version of it, no decals and such. Later I decided to make some more aircraft to the same scale. Again, just generic versions of the aircraft. Here they are.

Aircraft 1.250 jm1

From left to right - F-15 Eagle, F111C with wings swept, SR-71, F-18, F111C with wings extended and the RA-5 Vigilante, all simple builds from balsa and plywood, and at 1/250 scale.

I mentioned I'm a ship modeler. I've only done one aircraft carrier, the Airfix HMS Ark Royal, but I want to do more. I'll probably have to make my own air groups so as a trial I've made these from strips and rods of styrene:

Grumman Martlet jm2

Grumman F-4 Wildcat/Martlet 1/600 scale

Vought Corsair FAA jm1

Vought Corsair, FAA version, 1/600 scale

Supermarine Spitfire jm1

Supermarine Spitfire/Seafire, 1/600 scale

They're aproximately 2cm by 2cm in size and as you can see they're a bit rough, they were mainly trials to see if I could make them. If this group build goes ahead I'll probably make some more like these. Regards, Jeff.
