russ c Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Howdy Everyone, Took some pic`s of the latest addition to my Republic of China WWII collection so thought you wouldn`t mind if I bothered you with a few My attempt at ICM`s 1/48 I-153 `Guomindang AF Fighter` boxing Built straight from the box contents.... With only some engine wiring, seatbelts and rigging added. Drilled out the gun barrels and exhausts too Decals are the kits and went on with no trouble, just a very hot water compress on the rudder stripes to fold them round the edge Great little kit, hope you enjoy the pic`s Thanks for looking Cheers Russ 37
Gary Brantley Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 That is such nice work Russ! Great job on that! 1
Toryu Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Looks great Russ. I'm planning to build the Curtiss Hawk III - some time... (in the stash already). Which green did you use? 1
28ZComeback Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Beautiful Biplane!! I have same kit with $100 worth of aftermarket. Still sitting on the shelf. But your effort is proof positive that I don't need no stinkin resin. Again a show stopper!! 1

Pete in a shed Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Very nice Russ, good to see one in Chinese Nat colours. I assume the big grill usually seen in front of the engine wasnt needed in China as it was'nt so cold? What did you use for rigging? I'm about to make a foray into the world of biblanes so need all the info I can get about how to rig. Pete 1
fox1_BE Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Another excellent job, Russ 👍 Congrats on this beauty! 1
Allan31 Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 I'm thinking "nah, he means 1/32 scale..." Beautiful job. Just the right amount of subtle weathering. 1

I pre drilled holes and dimples before assembling and cut the wires slightly longer. Then fed the wire into the holes with blob of superglue gel. Normally I use nylon thread for rigging and colour it in with black marker, I`ve also used thin elastic, stretched sprue and thin copper wire. Always experimenting ( trying to find the easiest way, not found it yet though 😬 ) with different methods. Cheers Russ 1
Bertie McBoatface Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 I like that one very much. The weathering adds a lot of extra character to the already pugnacious appearance of the aircraft. It looks like it would fight dirty! 1
Xantippos Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 Very realistic, wonderful photography. I specially like the worn out colour of the blue roundels. 1
