JackG Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 One of the basic rules of group builds is crossovers are not allowed. That is, you can't enter the same model for two different GB's. The way around it is either add something extra outside of the original kit, like a figure or a second model. Also, taking a model that was started in the first half of the year and entering into a GB in the latter half the year must meet the criteria of being less than 25% built. Unless I am wrong and rules have changed? regards, Jack 2

Unless I am wrong and rules have changed? regards, Jack I'm not sure it's written in stone anywhere, but it's more of an unwritten rule that most of us generally adhere too. I will build 1 model for 2 different GBs...but only if they are in 2 different places. An example is my F-4EJ Kai, it's part of the F-4 STGB, but I am also using it for my local club GB. Another option for me would be another modeling site I'm on. This next year with the way some of the GBs overlap, I'll end up building a kit for one GB, then possibly share sporadic updates in the other chat...for example I'll probably build a F/A-18C or MiG-21MF in a strike loadout for Bombers/Strike, then share to the relevant STGB (or vice versa). But in the end will only have 1 "official" build thread. 2

For the most part true, though I have seen it done once. 21 minutes ago, helios16v said: I'm not sure it's written in stone anywhere, but it's more of an unwritten rule that most of us generally adhere too. It is unwritten but I believe its been done before. The difficult thing is to prove it can and should actually be used for two builds. As a group build host of about 1/2 dozen builds in the last 4 years with a few more coming up. I have no issue as long it does meet the criteria. Though I would only allow it in one of the two Galleries myself. No need to let it win twice. 3
JOCKNEY Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Matchbox II Classic GB, straight off the bat, in January, all welcome, hosted by Dave aka @Rabbit Leader and I. Multi coloured plastic, unpainted if you want to go old school ! Go on, you know you want to Cheers Pat 5 2
JackG Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Thanks for the clarification. It must have been a past experience from a specific year that I recall such a situation of the crossover being turned down. Even looking at the thread 'Guidlines for GB Hosts' it does not touch upon this question, nor the 25% rule. So every GB has their own set of rules posted, and if not clearly stated, a direct question to the moderator(s) would be prudent. regards, Jack 3

ArnoldAmbrose Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Gidday @Enzo Matrix, @Adam Poultney, could you sometime at your convenience please clarify the start and end dates of the "Big and British GB". I know you said 'follow the table' so I'm guessing it's 5th March to 26th June. But no hurry, plenty of time yet. Regards, Jeff.

Orso Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 I see that there are some GB's that might interest me. The attack Viggen might be something for the Bomber / Strike / Ground Attack GB. For a long time I have thinking of building a SAAB Tunnan prototype so the Prototype GB might be what is needed to get it going. The same goes for a Meteor that is stuck in the stash. The Matchbox classic is interesting but I will save my few Matchbox kits for the 50 year anniversary in 2023. I must have a look at the Turning Japanese GB and see if my kit fits and perhaps there still is a Armoured car in the stash. So I can see that there are more than enough to keep me busy. 3

It is very confusing for me and I won't do it again. It just proves my level of insanity and my need for attention, i.e. "aren't I clever?" Tomorrow I will start reorganizing the stash for the 2022 year. Sort out what fits where, what will be built and for which GB. It's the kind of fun I enjoy! 🤪 3
Tim R-T-C Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 Talking of the crossovers, I have been tempted to build several items for a diorama in different appropriate GBs, then combine them all into the final diorama in the KUTA end of year GB. Not sure if that would work with this year's calendar, need to have a full look through today and remind myself which GBs I actually signed up for! 3
John Masters Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 A rainy day here on the island...I have begun the sorting for 2022. I have some questions regarding eligibility which I will post in the appropriate threads...but first... This is almost everything I have committed to except for the Do.17, Ju.88, F-5 and F-15 GB, static or otherwise. I'm waiting for those kits. As I said, there are a few missing--also the Sherman M3/M4 series kit tis not there. I'm still on the fence about the 1/35th scale. If I can find a nice 1/72nd scale tank I'd be happier. --John 6

Closer in size to the 72nd but with more detail. A big plus, as far as I'm concerned, is that the tracks and wheels are moulded as a single piece - so no rubber band tracks!

I share your pain ( I think) This is the bulk of my stash (~ 75%) These are my GB commits minus the Sukhoi and plus a 1/35 Challenger I bought and a Titanic that I’m fairly sure I’m getting for Christmas. There’s also a 1/48 gloster whittle lurking in one of the boxes. And I have my eye on a 1/35 Wildcat in the local toy shop and may buy a Meteor and even a Lightening for the respective GBs. So seeing as how I’ll have bought around ten kits for GBs for next year ( and probably a half a dozen for GBs that didn’t get through (I have a lot of 1/144 scale migs in my stash, oh and a Wallace and grommet side car ) I’m thinking that the net effect on my stash may be a very small reduction or more likely a modest increase, sigh….
