Sturmovik
I finally decided to get the old Special Hobby Pucará. I originally had built this kit when it had been reboxed by Airfix in 2008. I was 12, and I can't remember the way it looked. Now that I'm 13 years older and with much more experience, I went ahead and bough the kit. Included are resin parts for the seats, exhausts and the propeller hubs, photoetch parts, and a small film sheet for the instrument panel. Special Hobby included decals for Uruguayan and Venezuelan machines, but I'll be using the ones provided by Dukel Hobbies. Now I'm facing the dilemma of buying the single colour (Revell 75 Stone Grey) I need for a camouflaged machine, or just go for the NMF plane. Box: Sprue shot 1: Sprue shot 2: Instruction sheet: Decals from Dukel Hobbies: Full colour painting guide (one scheme is shown, the other two are under the first sheet). Sturmovik
Right, I began the built not in the cockpit, but on the horizontal stabilizers. These are a butt join, so the area was flooded with Revell Contacta and the stabilizers glued and pressed in place. The kit doesn't have any flash, but raised ejector pin marks are prominent. These were removed with my modelling knife. I wrongly painted the cockpit parts in black, but after checking the instructions, I had to repaint them in light grey. PE parts added to the instrument panels. Cockpit repainted in light grey with black consoles. Wings done. That's all for today guys. I've already assembled the plane and have it complete. Only thing remaining is to buy Revell's 75 Stone Grey for the camouflage.
Sturmovik
More progress. This is a photo from yesterday, with the model entirely taped while the glue dried. And these two are from about half an hour earlier with the green applied. The yellow bands and aluminium ailerons were painted yesterday. And here are the propellers. I glued one blade inverted, so I had to remove it and reglue it. I used some CA while the regular plastic cement dried.
Sturmovik
Quick question: The Airfix instructions mention the brown to use was Pale Stone, whose equivalent in Revell colours is 75 Stone Grey. Now, I've seen several photos online (both from other Pucara builds and IRL ones, like the photos of A-529) which show a darker brown. Which brown should I use? I'm between Revell 82 Dark Earth and Revell 75 Stone Grey.
Sturmovik
Hello guys, here are some more in progress photos of my Pucará. I painted the second camouflage colour. It's Revell 75 Stone Grey, which I thought would be a good equivalent to Humbrol 121 Pale Grey Stone. I think it's much lighter. I've also painted the undersides in light blue. Away from the camera, I tested the stability of the plane by attaching the landing gear on top of blue tack blobs, and I'm happy to say the aircraft stands on its nose.

You'd be better off by waiting for the new tool Pucará from SH. According to Scalemates, it's bound to be released in 2022. 14 hours ago, Hook said: There are a few SH ones on Ebay at the moment, but ouch! those prices! Cheers, Andre Yep, 60$ isn't really cheap. But that included the shippping. 1 hour ago, socjo1 said: I'm watching with interesting as I have SH's Pucara in my plans. I have one question. Are you eating sausage during your modelling sessions? Sturmovik
Decals have been added: The landing gear assembly has also been glued. I had to deepen the holes for the struts because they were very shallow. Together with that, I also removed (on each strut) the outer locating pins, leaving only the central ones.

Sturmovik
Aaaaand! The model is finished. I added two more lead weights where the seats are because the model was still tail heavy, even after adding 30 grammes to the bulkhead between the cockpit and fuselage. I guess the propellers and canopy also helped to make the plane nose heavy.
