Correct sir!  All of those single seat Vampires operated without an ejection seat used used a Paxolin (or something similar, @Black Knight suggestion that it was paper impregnated with resin as opposed to Paxolin which is resin impregnated linen).  Here's a link to what the seat looked like and here's another one with a leather back pad, the pilot would sit on his parachute for a nice "comfy" cushion!
