Hi,

Next member of series of French machines, which appeared to be  the main subject of mine modelling this year.  The company Amiot is predominately associated with their model "143" - the "flying cupboard" (perhaps also "flying bookcase" or  "flying whatnot" ). But this is more modern model "351", a twin fin variant of better known model "354". The production of "351" started right after the May 10, 1940. Model presents the first machine in series, although numbered "56" as the numeration was continuing the earlier produced "354". This machine was painted in experimental "lizard" scheme and was assigned to GB II/34. On 20 June she was evacuated to North Africa.  This is Mach 2 kit. The main change was in propellers (they rotate now in different directions whereas those from kit has the same pitch).

Here she is:

And a family photo with her older sister, which is with me from 1976 (!) :

To be frank a face lifting of older sister was done here, namely the fresh coat of mat varnish after correction of hue of green khaki.

Before lifting she looked like that:

Great Work!  I am impressed by the "modern" Amiot....given the Reputation of Mach 2 kits!   The aircraft design could almost pass for Japanese, In my opinion.     I have an Amiot 134 completed and one in the Stash....its so Ugly it's Pretty!   Keep those French Aircraft coming!

Very nice! I like these interesting camouflage schemes. Not often to see.

thx for sharing!

Andy

Thank you. I did this model  (and therefore "351 variant) mainly because of this scheme. The "354" was more pronounced, namely it was in wider use in 1940 campaign. but this scheme apparently seduced me...,

You sir, are a freak of nature- a modeler who actually got a Mach 2 kit to resemble the airplane on the box lid! Wow- I am impressed with both models. You are a steely-eyed model builder! :worthy:

Mike

Thanks! The Mach 2 quality has poor reputation, and each time when I open their box I see, that they deserve it... Here the surface of wing required special attention due to many unwanted additions .

Thank you! Indeed, those Amiot 350s has some softness of shapes seen also in Japanese machines, for example in Ki 21 Sally.

Hi Jerzy,

great build, the Amiot 350-series belong to the most beautiful designs ever made. Hard to believe the same people designed flying shoeboxes just a few years before. Extra points for doing a Mach 2 kit and getting something so nice out of it.

Cheers

Or indeed on the Mosquito, or the Pe.2.

Right! However the second one of my recent build - Amiot 370, thats lines are even much slimmer due to V-type Hispano engines!

Markus, you are 100% right.  The rare models, like those by Mach 2 gives indeed new aesthetic possibilities...

I almost feel there is little point in saying anything to this, it has all been said so well before & so deservingly too. 👍 That camo is an awesome design, you have made it look wonderful. :)

Very nice work indeed!

Mach2 kits require good skill and confidence; which you clearly have in abundance.

I appreciete! The Mach 2 kits looks bad is box, but with some effort they bring you joy and satisfaction :)  I am glad that three are still waiting in stash.

Best regards

Anyone who can wrestle a Mach 2 kit into submission deserves praise! I did the 143 many years ago, seem to remember it was from Heller.

Pete

Thank you! Of course the "143" is the Heller, the only kit of this machine existing I think. Fer me it is an interesting emotional time loop- the 45 years between doing those two models...
