OV-10 Bronco 601st Tactical Control Wing Sembach 1980

Got the new  1/48 ICM  kit of the Bronco that i am building sa a overall grey Bronco  of the 601st Tactical Control Wing, Sembach 1980, they occasionally came up to RAF Gutersloh to exercise with the Harrier squadrons there.

can anyone tell me the FS number of the grey colour?

I will have a look at the academy 1/72nd kit when I get home and see what they recommend (unless it is answered before).

Hi Selwyn,

 

I aussume you mean this kind of grey? I read somwehere (couldn't find the source right now) that  they were painted in FS 16473 ADC Grey before switching to Europe 1 camo.

Maybe Jabba can cofirm...

Yes thats the colour!  They brought grey and camo aircraft to Gut,  but i thought the grey looked the business!

The T.O-114 calls for "All exterior areas except as specified" FS36473, with "Top of Wing, Entire Upper Surface (Includes fuselage & nacelles in Planform of wing)" FS37875

Yes, flat ADC Grey seems appropriate, not the glossy FS16473 that I thought in the first place.

The Academy instructions say FS36473 for most of the aircraft with the upper wings being FS37875. This is for an aircraft that was used in the Vietnam war, so whether the camo scheme change in later life I am nit sure. Hope that this is of some help.
