1/48 Aged Restorations from Storage (Bunches of Planes)

Recommended Posts

Last week I had to Move my stash from external storage to home. I'm still wondering how I managed to find a place for all this stuff. But I did end up emptying 2 large tote(About 165L each.) of built aircraft from years gone by. These all run the gamut of experimental, WWII, Post war years, Korea, Vietnam to the Present. As I get them cleaned up and repaired I'll post them here. I do know that so far there were 2 Bombers, a B-17G and B-24J that are so old (25 and 27 years respectively)and have been redone on too many occasions to be redone once again and have been laid to rest. THose if the chance occurs I'll get new ones and make a fresh start. One thing to notice is my lack of highlighting panel lines and weathering. I suppose you could call it my" looks like it should be right off the assembly line phase". But here we go in no particular order.....

Some aren't as good as I do now, In fact having not seen these in6-7 years I'm looking at them and thinking.... "What was I thinking when I did THAT!" But for the most part it's been a case of fixing broken props and landing gear And a good dusting!

So I hope you will enjoy this little offering and as I get more Restored(Ihope) I'll post them here. Thanks for stopping by and as always all comment, suggestions and good natured  jeering is always welcome.

An exotic collection.  Not a BF 109 to be found.  Well done, great craftsmanship.  The Buc was your introduction to Airfix?  Brave lad.

Haven't gotten to the 109's yet. They're in arother tote that I probably won't get to until next year.

I like them. They must bring back some very nice memories.

Definitely WT... well you know the rest... Right now I'm scratching my head where in the heck am I going to put these.. I only have so much ceiling and shelf space. Speaking of which ,I have to go get more wider shelves.

Thanks Sturmovik. It was an interesting build. It was my 2nd all resin build., the first being the Blenheim Mk1. I can't remember if it was an ARBA model or a true garage kit.  It was one of the last builds I did before everything was put in storage about 7 years ago.

Interesting collection there. Thanks for showing us.

It's made me think about the different ways we treat our completed models. I personally never return to the scene of the crime to restore old stuff. In fact I don't keep models more than a year or two, and generally break them for spares as soon as the first bit falls off. We modellers are certainly a varied lot. There's clearly no such thing as the 'average' modeller.

What a great collection (or part thereof)!  :clap2::clap2:

Interesting what you were saying re. "What was I thinking?"

With some of my display models I am happier to observe from a distance; in order to overlook flaws I either know about or might discover.

Occasionally I will look at an older build and say "That's good, but I don't remember how I did that!" Go figure eh? 🤔

Great collection of models. I love that american "flying wing", the triebflugel, the xp 59, the northrop black bullet, wonderful. Didn't know so many obscure kits were made in 1:48. It's great you've had the chance to get them home and restore them. I have all my models solidly boxed, at least at home, but many with damage I don't bother to repair, as I know they'll break again in the next move, so awaiting a fixed place to repair all those antennas, small wheels and altimeters.

BertiePsmith, gosh! that is a model kit homicide! aargh! I present voluntary to save any broken up kit , will swap for unbuilt ones!
