Popular Post Zigomar
Certainly one of the heroes of the Pacific War, the SBD held the line until the "Helldiver" was ready, well in to 1944. The dash 5 was an improvement over the dash 3 and used an aerial radar for the hunt of japanese ships. Cleaning the shelf of doom I found the old but good Accurate Miniature which I updated with Master 30 calibers, ultracast seats and a full riveting. The plane is from the "Lexington" during the operations against the Gilberts islands in 43. Fake MG openings were painted on the wing leading edges to lure the Japanese. This time I have used decals as the big fuselage stars with the red surround are quite impossible to do with masks due to the fuselage curve, a real problem with vinyl. Any comments welcome, cheers 7AF930F5-EC72-435B-B772-9A02AD7448C4_1_201_a by jean Barby, sur Flickr AFDDA6E9-0F82-4AF5-B43B-DE82B07E1FCF_1_201_a by jean Barby, sur Flickr 413ECCBD-CCBD-4EB7-B326-7EE35D831AA9_1_201_a by jean Barby, sur Flickr 5E02E7B1-F879-4B16-A30C-7B0E8F2104BE_1_201_a by jean Barby, sur Flickr D8464CD8-1009-42C6-8688-8857A6C41CEE_1_201_a by jean Barby, sur Flickr 74

Autle
Excellent job again Zigomar on one of my favourite aircraft. It looks like the kit dive brakes are plenty good enough at this scale and the rear MG stands up to close inspection.

SAT69
WOW! That's wonderful! What's the kit like to build? I've been tempted to buy but haven't made the move yet.

It is a very pleasant kit to build and so well researched!

It is a very pleasant kit to build and so well researched! I'm old enough to remember when this kit was first issued. I'm also old enough to remember when Hasegawa's F-86F in 1/32 scale was first released and the kit was, for the time, priced at an incredibly high price of $4.50! When I bought my first Monogram 1/72 B-52D, when that kit was first released, my boss at the SH Kress Store, where I ordered it, thought I was absolutely crazy to spend $15 for a model airplane kit. If he were alive today he'd probably go into cardiac arrest if he saw what quality plastic models can cost now.

The AM SBD is still a great kit. best regards my friend.

I wasn't offended in any way and if the tone of my reply suggests that I was, please forgive my failure to communicate my thoughts better. The point of my reply was that I remember when the AM Dauntless was new and remember even further back when the kits I mentioned were also new. I am 71 years old now and can remember my very first plastic model airplane kit, the Comet F9F-6 Cougar. I probably had more glue on the outside than you can imagine and it didn't look pretty when it was done, but I remember it because it was my first plastic model. It cost 29 cents US at the time. Being 70 we are of the same batch of modellers, but remember in those days, models were toys! All the best!
