Goji308 Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 (edited) What a fun build. I enjoyed the kit. Overall the kit was pretty straight forward and well designed. I deviated from the plan a tad here and there. I upgraded the weapons on the conning tower and main deck gun. Most of the features in the conning tower I replaced with 3-d printed parts for a little more detail. I used a nautilus laser engraved wood deck that really spoke volumes and added to the overall build. Without further rambling here is my interpretation of the U-82 U-boat. Here is a link to the “ build “if you care to follow my building process. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235099254-revell-uboat-viic-“wolf-pack”-05015-172/ Thank you for looking and commenting. Goji/ Brian if you would like to see more detailed (closeups) photos of this uboat I have more on my personal website: https://www.briankirkseyphoto.com/Unlisted/n-D5NHZc/Revell-U-82-U-boat-172-custom-build If you would like to read more about the interesting U-82 visit www.uboat.net. https://uboat.net/boats/u82.htm Edited December 1, 2021 by Goji308 Added a photo 46 1
ArnoldAmbrose Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 Gidday again, very well done. I think the weathering is spot on, not overdone. And I think the boat looks rather sinister in the photos, in it's element appearing from the murky depths. To me it almost looks a little bit evil. But then, they were a "Damned un-English weapon" I believe. Regards, Jeff. 1
Chris Hewitt Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 Superb fun build, you have done an excellent job ,on that devil of the sea ,only thing that scared Churchill, during the war. 1
Adm Lord De Univers Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 Brian, Really good wip/build log, it's one of those I'd have been quite content to tune into day-in day-out for much longer, bit of a shame it's over really. The finished build is simply stunning; the upgraded wrapons, deck, 3d and scratchbuilt parts really add to it, but it's the painting and weathering that set this apart. I like the dark backdrop too, as Jeff has said, it gives it an unease and coming from the depths vibe. What's up next? I'd love to see you tackle a floaty thing instead of a sinky thing... David 1
robgizlu Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 That is a delight - spot on weathering and very well photographed Congratulations Rob 1
