Very interesting subject. Besides the Spanish Republican (my choice) one can paint her in Manchukuo colors

As well as Swiss  interwar passenger liveries

Mine LAPE (SCW) box arrived two days ago! :)

It is ~50% bigger then Lockheed Orion or Northrop Delta... - I also though it will be of similar size.

Funny you should mention that - when I made my post about the WAE version, I was trying to estimate the size of the aircraft by looking at the size and spacing of the passenger windows in the fuselage as shown in the box art. You've answered my question - thank you! :D Enjoy your kit!

It is actually one of the largest single-engine aircraft, larger than the TBM Avenger and An-2, while Wellesley and ANT-25 only surpass it thanks to their extremely long wings.

Was any example of this type still in use anywhere after the 1st September 1939?

Of the FIVE aircraft built, one (Swissair) was crashed in 1936, two participated in the Spanish Civil War, one went to Japan and one to Colombia.

So my vote is for the Colombian one only.

Cheers

But that is not for sure? Or is it?

Is it sure that Spanish and Japanese examples didn't live up till then?

And this Colombian is the only example not covered by Sova boxings.

Are there at least any photos of Colombian example?

Colombian one (on some photos with US registration, I think prior to sending to Colombia)

Here http://www.airwar.ru/enc/cw1/ga43.html I have found, that:

1, That on floats one had PW Hornet engine instead of Cyclone.

2. The Japanese/Manchurian one crashed on 1934.

3. The single one used in Spain (I did not found that they were two if them) served until 1937 at least

I have found another interesting photo of Columbian Clark

http://dornier-wal.com/SCADTA/groß/image001.jpg

On one profile it is shown, that there are traces of former Swiss registration and company name stripped off in Spanish machine

I am trying to google any photo of the Spanish one to confirm it,  but no cigar...

Correction - in fact the An-2 has (very) slightly larger dimensions. Moreover, I forgot about such mass-produced single-engine monsters as the Italian Caproni 111, Dutch Fokker F.VII/1m and WW1 Short Type 184. And the "best" of all - the Dakota-sized Junkers Ju52/1m - although only 6 were built.

Another fault of mine (just after COVID, you shouldn't write anything after midnight). Of the five a/c listed, one crashed in Japan in 1934, another in Switzerland in 1936, the third flew to Spain (the question remains, did it survive the SCW?). The fourth was the Colombian seaplane, and the fifth was used by General Airlines in the US.

Cheers
