Ratch
This arrived last week. A win on e-bay of the 1975 Airfix Waterloo Wargame It’s a bit play-worn, but it’s all there. As I had a little time, I thought I’d sort out some appropriate figures for the Waterloo Wargame. Each base represents a unit or Commander. For the French we have: Napoleon: with a gun battery. I will use the Italeri Napoleon figure. While doing so I decided it would be best to sort out all the painting and do it together. I have some of these already painted, some part-painted and the remainder are virgin plastic. It took a bit longer than expected to enlist the troops. Here are the painted men – and these need work.

Sgt.Squarehead
Are the bases integrated into the rules (footage etc.)? If not, maybe think about basing your figures on 1p & 2p pieces.....They're the cheapest bases you can get and all that weight at the bottom helps preserve your figures as they don't fall over.

Ratch
All men were painted with Humbrol Acrylic 61 Matt Flesh for their face and hands. The French gun carriages are Vallejo Model Color 70970 72 Deep Green and the British Humbrol Acrylic 27 Matt Sea Grey. The horses were painted too in various browns and black.

Ratch
Willem Frederik count of Bijlandt was a Dutch lieutenant-general who as a major-general commanded a Belgian-Dutch infantry brigade. I have used two figures from the HaT 8025 set to represent the 12th Dutch Line Battalion. The standing man is fusilier, and the kneeling man is flanker. David Hendrik, Baron Chassé commanded the Third Netherlands Division. I have used two figures from the HaT 8096 set to represent the 19th National Militia. I have painted flags on all the bases for identification purposes.

Ratch
Cheers @Vince1159 Major-General Lord Edward Somerset KCB commanded the (Household) Cavalry Brigade – represented here by a Revell figure from set 02578 painted as a trooper of the 1st Life Guards. Duplat wasn’t mentioned on the order of battle I consulted, and I assumed he was a Dutch commander and gave him a piece from HäT set 8096 Waterloo Netherlands Militia & Belgian Infantry painted as Belgian 35th Jägers Light Regiment. A subsequent search revealed him as Du Plat, who commanded a brigade of the King's German Legion defending Hougoumont. I repainted the base and utilised a pre-painted piece from HäT set 8304, British Infantry Command.
Ratch
For the Belgo-Dutch cavalry contingent I used two figures from HäT set 8032 to represent the Regiment Lichte Dragonders No. 4.
Ratch
For the Brunswickers I used two figures from HäT set 8008 to represent a Jäger (kneeling) and a Private, Light Infantry (firing), of the Avantgarde.
Ratch
General Wilhelm Caspar Ferdinand Freiherr von Dörnberg was a Brigade Commander at Waterloo, represented here by an Italeri figure from set 6094, painted as a Trooper of the 1st Light Dragoons, King’s German Legion.
Ratch
My next figure is for Colonel Sir W. Arentschild. He commanded 3rd Hussars, King’s German Legion, Initially I was going to use a HäT 8014 figure, but my research revealed that the third wore the Dolman and pelisse with the shako. So I cut the head from an Airfix French Line Infantryman 01744 and replaced it on the body of a Waterloo British Cavalry man 01743. I retained the HäT 8014 horse. Then I set about painting him.
Ratch
Here we have four figures. The first three represent the Guards regiments, which were organised in two brigades in the 1st Division. The 1st Brigade was made up of the 2nd and 3rd Battalions of the 1st Guards, and the 2nd Brigade consisted of Coldstreamers and Scots Guards. For some reason Airfix have three units, one named after Major-General Peregrine Maitland and another simply 1st Guard. Maitland commanded the 1st Guards Brigade. He was assigned to the First Corps, under overall command of the Prince of Orange commanding two battalions of the 1st Foot Guards, I used one Italeri set 6095 piece for Maitland and painted another to represent the 3rd Foot Guards. The 3rd Foot Guards were positioned on the ridge just behind Hougoumont Farm under the command of Second Major Francis Hepburn, while the light companies of the two battalions, under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel James Macdonnell, garrisoned the Farm. Field Marshall John Byng commanded the 2nd Guards Brigade at the Battle of Quatre Bras and again at the Battle of Waterloo. My figure represents the 2nd Coldstream Foot Guards with a piece from Strelets set M097. General Sir James Kempt led the 8th British Brigade consisting of the 28th North Gloucestershire, 1/32nd Cornwall, 2/79th Cameron Highlanders and 1/95th Rifles in Sir Thomas Picton's 5th Division. I have used an Italeri 6095 figure representing the 28th North Gloucestershire.
