Brigbeale
I bought this kit off eBay a fair while ago and I have almost selected it a few times but I’d then select something else. Having just completed the restoration of the old Airfix Meteor F3 and painting it as EE337 from the FAA, I was inspired enough to build the Canberra (as, to me, it kind of appeared similar to a scaled up Meteor - even though the two, in all probability, had nothing to do with each other design wise- only the similar layout of the fuselage and engines. I wasn’t happy with the detail-less cockpit and interior. I didn’t like the gun pack fitted to the underside. The nose-wheel well was formed to the bare minimum and engine exhausts were just a pair of plastic rings. So, out with the 3D printer and thinking cap on. I won’t bore you with the intricacies of the build again as it’s all in the WIP here. Suffice to say the actual kit (despite the warped fuselage) went together very well. The decal sheet was very old and I read that the aircraft number of XM260 didn’t exist (at least not on a Canberra as far as I’m aware). Fortunately, @Hook came to my rescue in that front and donated a set of Airfix decals depicting XM277 instead. I have depicted the Canberra carrying a Red Beard Nuclear device (which I 3D printed). The model now resides in the display cabinet alongside another 16 Squadron aircraft - my Buccaneer. Enough waffle……… pictures!
Selwyn
Nice build of my favorite Canberra Mark, (im just building one myself at the moment!) Just a quick note, The german based Canberra Squadrons did not carry Red beard weapons, they used US Mk7 Bombs, and its successor (mk43?) The red beards were only used by RAF squadrons based in the Near and far east. Selwyn

Selwyn Thanks Selwyn, @TheyJammedKenny! pretty much told me the same thing, but in my belligerence, I stuck with the Red Beard. I did design my own version of the Mark 7 in 1/72nd scale, but at the moment my 3D printer is busy and has the wrong nozzle and filament fitted. I’ll print the Mark 7 later and replace the Red Beard with it. I thought I was going to be ok with it, but it’s beginning to niggle me now. The Red Beard should come out easily enough -I hope😖. TheyJammedKenny!
Beautifully done! I like the weathering effect on the finish, and I think it matches the look of the real thing.
