Looks very nice indeed Alistair,  the matt varnish has brought everything together.

Great job

Chris

Thanks Chris,

I'm still not sure that it's a tad overdone but I'll see what I think when I've finished it.

Cheers,

Alistair

Today I attempted a little chipping, a Flory Dark Dirt wash and some oil weathering.

Once that was done and dried a matt coat was applied after the undercarriage and exhausts were attached.

When the matt coat had become touch dry I painted the nav lights and put a drop of Krystal Klear on the spine.

To be done,

Rig the aerial wires,

Fit the wheels, aerial, prop and pitot.

Not necessarily in that order.

Then unmask the canopy and fit the rear view mirror.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

I'm pretty sure that a UK-based Vb would've had a VHF radio installed so don't think you'll need the wire from the mast to the tailplane. It still would have the IFF wires mind.

Thanks so much.

When I referred to the rigging I meant the IFF wires but didn't know that's what they were and I'm really grateful to be pointed in the right direction.

Also, thanks for the link. That's really useful.

Trying to stay awake after an early. Not much sleep last night. I got my booster and kept rolling on to the sore arm it gave me.

Wheels, Aerial, Pitot and IFF wires done.

All that's left is the rear view mirror and I'll tackle that tomorrow.

Starting to come round to the weathering as well.

Thanks for looking,

Looking good Alistair great job. The underside of this machine was quite dirty.

Glad you were able to get the booster jab, now got mine next week.

Chris

Thanks Chris,

I had a look at a fair few pictures and tried to give the impression of the amount of filth I saw there.

Good luck with the booster.

Looks great! The camouflage scheme looks super with the decals.

It’s nice to see that Revell finally tooled an accurate 1/72 Spitfire, although it took them to 2016 to do it!

Regards,

Adrian

Many thanks, that's very kind of you.

I picked this up at the Hobbycraft Black Friday thingie in 2019 for £3.50 not knowing anything about the kit or Revell's travails with a 1/72 Spit over the years.

It's looking fairly good on the bench at the moment while waiting for it's rear view mirror.

Cheers,

Alistair

Great job on the mirror , this one had a taller mirror and you got that a treat  in 72nd scale too!!!

Fabulous model Alistair

Chris

Thanks so much Chris,

The mirror pinged off the tweezers about a dozen times when I was trying to get it fitted, but I got lucky and found it every time.
