Exactly what you intend is not at all clear from your question because you have not described it, but you will need to use complementary colours in the same tone group (warm/cool/neutral) because strong yellows and yellow-greens are very sensitive. If you are asking about colours to represent dirt or chipping, please clarify, but there is nothing especially complicated about that beyond thinking about what has caused the dirt.
