SBS Model 1/72 De Havilland DH.88

Recommended Posts

This is an exquisite resin kit which I have not really done justice to, but here it is.

Primed with Tamiya Neutral Grey.

Painted with Mr. Color Gloss Black, Tamiya Red Brown and Rubber Black, Xtreme Metals Polished Aluminium.

Finished with Mr. Color Super Clear III Gloss.

I had a little trouble with the transfers which were extremely thing and didn't like much manipulation.

Looks good in the cabinet though.

Thanks very much. That is very kind of you.

I know where the flaws in the build are though.

G-ACSS looks beautiful in its red and white plumage, but the black and gold of Black Magic knocks it out of the park. I'll bet your model does look good in the display cabinet as it looks stunning here.

It does look quite spiffy.

That's a very nice model. The SBS kit is very good, although as you say the applying the decals can be a trial. I built one as CSS when she was in the hands of the Air Ministry and was pleased by the result.

I think you've done a great job, it looks fantastic. The DH88 is such an elegant aircraft and your lovely gloss black finish really enhances it.

Richie

Thanks very much.

What a result! I would dearly love to do one of those by SBS, having previously enjoyed the Airfix, Frog and KP versions it would be good to save the best 'til last!

That would look good in anyone's cabinet.

All the best, Ray
